This part-time, temporary position will partner with Mountain Youth Network (MYN) staff, TREK Teen Council (TREK), local youth-serving organizations, and the community. The focus of the work includes but is not limited to, providing youth representation and voice throughout the community for specific campaigns and projects regarding topics like substance use prevention (in particular, tobacco use / vaping), which may consist of presentations and content creation. The MYN Youth Representative is responsible for providing youth expertise and feedback. Inherent to this job is a focus on developing professional skills in speaking and writing, such as group / team facilitation, providing recommendations, presenting as a youth expert, collaboration, and other relevant skills needed to carry out the duties of this position effectively.
PRINCIPAL JOB DUTIES :
Support Mountain Youth Network (MYN) Operations
Provide and amplify the youth voice within the MYN coalition
Attend MYN meetings / activities to provide input from the youth's perspective
Authentically engage young people in MYN activities and programs through identified best practices
Advise MYN coalition on strengths-based opportunities for youth
Support the creation of social media and other promotional content for activities and programs
Support TREK Teen Council operations
Assist with coordinating and developing community presentations (TREK Talks) and outreach events.
Serve as TREK Ambassador at school and in the community; promote TREK activities to peers; embody TREK values.
Support the STEPP (State Tobacco Education and Prevention Partnership) work focused on nicotine / tobacco prevention and cessation.
Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS :
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION
Current Clear Creek student 14 years or older
Experience and interest in providing youth voice and youth perspective
Excellent grammar and writing skills
Public speaking experience preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Leadership skills
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS :
Must pass a background check : Criminal and Traffic, if applicable
Conviction of a crime will not be an absolute bar to employment
Required legal authorization to work -
United States citizenship or legal authorization to work in the United States
SUPERVISORY :
There are no supervisory duties related to this position.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT :
Work is primarily performed in an office environment. Work may require meeting deadlines set by others and participation in evening meetings. Must be able to perform the following physical activities : standing, walking, sitting, driving passenger vehicles, keyboarding, bending, and stretching. Must be physically able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 40 pounds. Clear vision at 20 inches or less and up to 20 feet or more; corrective eyewear is acceptable. Work includes hearing voices either in person or via telephone conversations. Occasionally requires travel for business-related issues.
