What are the responsibilities and job description for the Data Migration Specialist position at Clearwater Analytics?
Re-engineers inefficient processes with the goal of improving system automation, speed, accuracy, and operational workflow. Leverages internal applications and external tools such as Excel, SQL, VBA, and/or Python to gather and analyze data to resolve problems and inconsistencies to effectively onboard client’s data during the onboarding process. Strategizes with development teams to improve our client onboarding experience, shorten delivery timeframes, and develop repeatable, scalable processes. Effectively communicates and collaborates with a global team to resolve problems and client inquiries accurately and efficiently. Imports, normalizes, enriches, loads, and validate investment holdings and transactions data using state-of-the-art software tools and systems. Collaborates with multiple teams and departments to ensure accuracy and consistency of financial records and data. Develops and applies domain knowledge regarding complex financial instruments and accounting principles.
Responsibilities:
- Applies acquired skills, procedures, and decision-making best practices to complete a variety of issues.
- Demonstrates working knowledge of Clearwater Way methodologies to implement and onboard clients, including alignment and support of CW’s Client Engagement Model
- Builds upon expertise.
- Internal Communication: Trusted to deliver accurate, timely, and thorough responses (Level 1) to routine inquiries in both written and verbal contexts. Audience is typically team lead level or below. Most often the trainee vs the trainer. Sphere of influence mainly self.
- External Communication: Trusted to deliver accurate, timely, and thorough responses (Level 1) to routine inquiries in both written and verbal contexts. May have more senior team members review emails before sending or sit in on calls for support. Audience is typically low- or mid- level stakeholders.
- Intermediate Technical skills in Excel (VLOOKUP, SUMIF, PIVOT TABLES, conditional formatting, some Ribbon utilization) and SQL (can read and write queries involving JOINs, is familiar with most commonly used tables for role such as Accounts, Transactions, Positions, Security Master).
- Beginner Technical skills in Perseus, Tiresias, File Analysis, Parallel Tool, Lookup Tools, Cost Data Tool, and Drydock. Familiar with most panels and functionality for routine tasks but requires assistance to perform actions that are less common and more complex.
- Continuous Service Improvement: Identifies opportunities for improvement and spearheads solutions individually/within role
- Accounting: Basic understanding of the accounting equation, amortization, interest income, and other accounting Cert concepts. Basis agnostic.
- Data Feeds/Flows: Basic understanding of the data intake, normalization, reconciliation, and reporting workflow, and related Cert concepts.
- Asset Classes: Basic understanding of vanilla fixed income and equity investments-what they are, why they are used, and how they work in CW.
- Market: Understands and applies Clearwater's core value proposition (aggregate, reconcile, report) from a market- and client-agnostic standpoint
- Normally follows established procedures on work, requires instructions only on new issues.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Information Systems, Actuarial Science, Accounting, Finance, or related disciplines
- 7 years of relevant work experience
- Advanced Excel proficiency
- Experience with SQL or other relational databases
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
- Work with minimal direction and be able to coordinate complex activities in an evolving, agile environment
- Dynamic problem solving skills, and an innate sense of curiosity
- Right to work in the U.S. without employment-based sponsorship now or in the future
- Currently resides in Boise or is willing to relocate
- Desired Experience and Skills
- Knowledge of investment accounting policies and procedures
- Securities or financial markets experience, especially involving derivatives, alternatives, structured products, and/or fixed income
- Project management skills
