Fiber Splicing Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of fiber optic cable splicing operations, ensuring the efficient, safe, and high-quality performance of fiber splicing teams. This role involves managing splicing crews, maintaining schedules, coordinating with other departments, verifying invoices, inventory and ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety regulations. This includes maintaining 24/7 coverage with your team and contractors to cover all outages. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership, technical expertise in fiber optic networks, and experience in managing large-scale fiber splicing projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership & Supervision:
- Lead and supervise a team of fiber splicing technicians, providing training, guidance, and performance management.
- Assign tasks and manage workflow for splicing teams to ensure timely and quality installation and maintenance of fiber optic cables.
- Conduct regular safety meetings and ensure adherence to safety protocols on all splicing projects.
- Project Management:
- Plan, schedule, and oversee fiber splicing operations for both new installations and ongoing maintenance.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other departments to ensure fiber splicing is completed on time, within budget, and to specified quality standards.
- Review and approve work plans, drawings, and other technical documents before executing.
- Quality Assurance & Compliance:
- Ensure that all fiber optic splicing work meets industry standards (e.g., TIA/EIA, ISO, etc.) and company quality benchmarks.
- Perform quality checks on completed splicing work, troubleshooting, and rectifying any issues with spliced fibers.
- Monitor and enforce compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and environmental guidelines.
- Technical Expertise & Support:
- Provide technical support to splicing crews during complex installations or troubleshooting activities.
- Evaluate new splicing technologies and tools, making recommendations for improvements or upgrades.
- Stay updated on the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices related to fiber optics.
- Inventory and Equipment Management:
- Manage inventory of fiber optic splicing tools, equipment, and materials, ensuring adequate stock levels and proper maintenance.
- Oversee the procurement of necessary equipment and materials for fiber optic projects.
- Reporting & Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of splicing work, including project progress, materials used, and time spent on each project.
- Submit regular reports on team performance, project status, and any issues encountered during splicing activities.
- Customer Interaction:
- Interface with customers, contractors, and external stakeholders when necessary, ensuring communication is clear and expectations are managed.
- Address and resolve customer concerns related to fiber splicing and network performance.
