GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
The Teen Court Coordinator is a full-time position reporting to the Teen Court Manager. This position is ideal for someone who has a strong commitment to positively impacting the lives of at-risk youth, aged 11-17. As the Teen Court Coordinator, you will work directly with youth offenders, volunteers, and community partners, facilitating a restorative justice experience designed to foster accountability, personal growth, and community engagement.

- Ensure the completion of departmental Standard Operating Procedures. Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications and maintaining personal networks.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Administrative Support: Utilize Microsoft Office 365 to prepare documents, reports, and maintain program records. Ensure all files are well-organized, up-to-date and accessible.
- Case Management: Manage and maintain accurate case records for each participant, ensuring confidentiality, compliance with regulations and timely updates.
- Develop and Maintain Relationships: Establish and maintain positive working relationships with collateral agencies to support and strengthen the Teen Court program.
- Schedule Virtual and In-person Classes: Work with community partners to schedule virtual peer circle and Prevention Classes.
- Schedule and Conduct Intakes: Schedule Intake Conferences. Meet with youth offenders and their families to explain the program, gather pertinent information and ensure all participants are prepared and understand the process. Perform Prevention Assessment Tool (PAT) Interview.
- Schedule and Arrange Court Hearings: Organize and manage the logistics of Teen Court hearings, coordinating court hearings with all involved parties.
- Recruit and Train Program Volunteers: Identify, recruit and train adult and youth volunteers to serve as jurors, attorneys, clerks and bailiffs, creating an active volunteer base.
- Restitution: Order, collect and distribute restitution payments.
- Plan and Conduct Annual Volunteer Banquet: Prepare and direct an annual banquet recognizing adult and youth volunteers. Prepare rewards for volunteer service and scholarship applications and related awards.
- Assist Teen Court Manager with Mock Trial Competition Team: Attend the annual mock trial competition and help Manager manage all the logistics of practices, competition and reward field trip.
- Supervise and Train Teen Court Specialist.
- Take Initiative: Actively identify areas for improvement, take responsibility for tasks and demonstrate a proactive approach to program development and execution.
- Youth Engagement and Mentorship: Inspire, motivate and guide youth to take responsibility, learn from their experiences, and work collaboratively with peers.
- Perform Additional Duties: Support the Teen Court Manager with other tasks and projects as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the Teen Court program and the Clerk of Court and Comptroller’s mission.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Education:
Associate’s Degree preferred, but not required.
Experience:
Two (2) years working experience with juveniles preferred, but not required.
An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be substituted at the Clerk’s discretion.
Licenses/Certificates:
A valid Florida Driver's License or Florida Identification is required for the hiring process.
JUDGMENT DECISIONS
Ability to work on assignments where common sense and good judgment are essential. Judgment is required to ensure information released to the public is not legal advice, is not released without proper authorization, is in compliance with best practices, and is not confidential in nature. Ability to work with and maintain confidential and/or sensitive records and comply with legal advice restrictions for the Clerk’s office as well as state and federal guidelines.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Superior communication, initiative and organization skills with the ability to apply sound judgment are required. Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals. Ability to write business correspondence. Excellent knowledge and usage of grammar, punctuation and sentence structure is required when preparing written communication.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to apply general mathematical concepts.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
