What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sales Manager position at Cleveland Metroparks?
The Sales Manager generates revenue for Cleveland Metroparks by promoting and coordinating special events for large groups held at Cleveland Metroparks and also prospects new customers by hosting VIP groups, and working tradeshow and bridal shows. The Sales Manager supervises a staff of group sales associates and event coordinators and is responsible for overseeing the processing of permits. The Sales Manager is also required to be present at, or assigns staff members to be present at, all specialty events such as weddings, walk-a-thons, corporate events, social, and family events.
Essential Functions:
- Effectively supervises assigned employees, including the following:
- Interviews, selects and trains employees;
- Coaches employees in proper job performance techniques and procedures;
- Directs work of employees and sets/adjusts hours of work;
- Maintains records on employee productivity and appraises employees’ productivity and efficiency to recommend promotions or other changes in status;
- Handles employee complaints and disciplines employees when necessary;
- Apportions work among different employees;
- Monitors or implements legal compliance measures;
- Determines the type of materials, supplies, or tools to be used by employees and controls the flow and distribution of materials and supplies; and
- Provides for the safety of employees and the property of Cleveland Metroparks.
- Regular and predictable attendance is expected and required. All Cleveland Metroparks employees must be prepared to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and/or holidays as required.
- Creates contracts to generate revenue and processes revenue for multiple locations within Cleveland Metroparks: drafts contracts and emails them to customers; obtains the relevant information for the event and customer; selects the due date and submission of the conditions of use for the event type; enters contract information into Outlook calendar to inform managers associated with the event’s specific location, processes payment in Centaman system, balances daily financial records and yearly comparison statements, and prints tickets and sends them to the customer if required.
- Responds to inquiries and solicits new and existing business: receives and responds to all online inquiries and reaches out to potential new customers to build relationships and generate new business, maintains relationships with large groups who book annual events.
- Represents Cleveland Metroparks at tradeshows, bridal shows, and other exhibit shows: creates, themes and designs tradeshow booths and tables for Cleveland Metroparks, obtains updated photography, give-a-ways, and printed materials, stays informed on Metroparks facilities, history, new arrivals as well as rental information and zoo animal knowledge.
- Meets with customers both in the office and at various locations throughout the park district: schedules appointments to discuss the details of customers’ booked events and provides tours of potential event locations to groups prior to issuing of contract.
- Manages Consignment Ticket Program: prints ticket bundles to distribute to organizations to resell the tickets to their customers or employees, offers company discounts to groups and provides a corporate code and a flyer for the organization to post, solicits companies to return their unused tickets, and sends an invoices for the paper tickets sold.
