Full Time (37.50 hrs. per week) – reports to Director, Digital Content
Pay grade 6 = $67,100

JOB SUMMARY
The Creative Manager leads the graphic design and print team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality creative assets aligned with the company's brand identity and business objectives. This role combines creative vision with project management to guide the development of visual content across various platforms, including print, digital, and multimedia. This is a small team, so some graphic design duties are expected to ensure projects meet deadlines.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in art, design, graphics or a related field from an accredited college.
Experience:
Seven years’ experience in graphic design.
Two years’ experience in digital design, including UI/UX and motion graphics.
Three years’ supervisory experience.
Two years’ experience leading design processes from concept through execution, including leading teams and managing timelines and budgets.
Experience setting standards for offset and digital print production; digital photography, digital printing; advertising across multiple mediums; and advanced knowledge with press/publicity/promotion communication.
Experience with web design, UX/UI principles, and an understanding of responsive design is often crucial in modern graphic design roles.
Must be able to provide a well-rounded portfolio that demonstrates both creative abilities and leadership experience, showcasing completed projects, branding campaigns, digital media, and team collaborations.
Experience working in the public sector and a union environment preferred.
Technical Expertise:
Intermediate knowledge of print production and prepress processes.
Possess and maintain an extensive knowledge of visual communication and design principles across multiple channels.
Ability to conceptualize and drive innovative ideas, developing creative strategies that align with business goals and resonate with target audiences. Strong vision to lead projects from inception to execution while maintaining a consistent brand aesthetic.
Track record of developing and executing innovative, high-impact creative strategies that drive brand growth and engagement. Demonstrated success in leading creative teams and delivering visionary concepts from inception to completion.
Demonstrated ability to lead and manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery, resource allocation, and adherence to budget and scope. Strong organizational skills, intermediate proficiency with project management tools (e.g., Planner, Trello, Asana, Basecamp), and ability to manage multiple projects with varying deadlines.
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
Strong proficiency in industry standards:
a. Graphic design programs including, but not limited to Adobe Creative Suite - InDesign, PhotoShop, Illustrator, Bridge and/or Acrobat.
b. Video editing software including, but not limited to Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, and/or DaVinci Resolve is a plus.
c. Knowledge of Adobe After Effects and HTML/CSS is a plus. Proficiency in the technical requirements for print design (e.g., resolution, bleed, color modes) as well as the requirements for digital formats (e.g., screen resolution, file formats).
Intermediate proficiency in MS Office or similar software is required. Relevant business equipment including the use of basic computer programs and systems.
Proven record of adapting to new trends and technologies, including artificial intelligence, software as a service, and design styles.
Knowledge of the various file formats (e.g., JPEG, PNG, SVG, EPS, PDF, AI) and when to use each format for different media types (web, print, video).
Basic knowledge of creating simple animations or motion graphics using tools like After Effects can be beneficial for dynamic digital campaigns is a plus.
Proper spelling, grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure to ensure that written materials prepared and reviewed are complete, succinct, and free of errors.
Ability to write copy, edit, and proofread and use mathematics to solve problems.
Certifications: Adobe and continued education certifications are preferred.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Evaluation of this position is based primarily on the performance of the following essential functions, which include, but are not limited to:
Collaborate with the Marketing team and stakeholders to develop creative strategies that align with business objectives.
Provide guidance, feedback, and support to a team of graphic designers, ensuring professional growth, and skill development.
Oversee the design and production of marketing collateral, including advertisements, social media graphics, website content, packaging, and presentations.
Take the lead on creative projects to ensure quality standards and timelines are met.
Produce, update, and maintain documentation for creative processes for the creative team.
Stay up-to-date with design trends and inspire the team to explore new ideas, technologies, and techniques in their work.
Create and reinforce design standards, ensuring consistency across all visual assets, such as logos, typography, color schemes, and imagery, to adhere to brand guidelines and maintain a consistent visual identity.
Supervise staff in specified area, including hiring, training, professional growth, performance management, productivity, quality, service, discipline and terminations. Manage vendors and contracted staff.
Understand and interpret client needs, offer design solutions, and maintain professional relationships.
Present design ideas and final outputs to stakeholders, including executives, marketing teams, and clients, and incorporate feedback as needed.
In some cases, act as the point of contact for clients, discussing their vision, making adjustments to designs, and ensuring satisfaction with final products.
Oversee the design team’s resources and ensure that projects stay within budget.
Reviewing and approving designs to ensure they meet the required standards and guidelines.
May attend meetings; participate on committees, present workshops and training.
May perform select duties of other staff in their absence.
