Description :
The Climate Measurements Center of Excellence (CMeC) aims to improve climate impacts measurement science, so communities have the guidance, tools, and capacities to make effective, equitable climate adaptation plans, protect people from the negative impacts of climate change, and transcend climate risk. The CMeC was established with funding from the National Institute of Standards and Technology and is located within the Gund Institute for Environment.
The Center has three objectives :
- Develop standardized methods and measurements for climate impacts and adaptation in the food, health, and water sectors.
- Create climate impact assessment framework, toolkits, and best practices that can be used by communities and other sub-national jurisdictions to inform local policies and decision-making.
- Serve as an information and expertise hub for subnational climate assessments.
The Climate Impacts Measurement Center of Excellence (CMCE) Program Manager will report to the Center Director and be a core member of the Center. The CMCE Program Manager will implement strategy and priorities; develop and facilitate programming; build and coordinate diverse partnerships; lead communications; design and oversee budgetary and financial systems including contracts and service agreements; and manage administration and logistics. The CMCE Program Manager will work with a dynamic team of UVM faculty, staff, students, and postdocs along with a wide range of external partners to establish and run an impact-focused interdisciplinary national center of excellence.
