JOB TITLE: CTE Paraprofessional (General)

SUMMARY The primary responsibility of a paraprofessional working in any career and technical education (CTE) program is to assist the instructor with the supervision of students during classroom instruction and the work-based/ project-based learning experiences associated with the program paying particular attention to safety issues and assist students with successful mastery of competencies by providing guidance, support, or demonstration/modeling of correct procedure. Countywide CTE Programming in Clinton County consists of 11 programs housed at various locations throughout the county. This position will involve both classroom support and support of the Career Education office team as needed in serving students and their families.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Travel between classes and buildings as need arises, maintaining a flexible rotation between classes dependent on the needs of the instructors.
2. Keep instructor apprised of any situations that require teacher assistance or intervention.
3. Provide verbal clarification to students and demonstrate or model, when necessary, a particular skill that is being performed incorrectly, reinforcing the importance of transferable skills by modeling appropriate communications and behaviors.
4. May perform duties such as making copies of instructional materials; may help prepare lab materials, tools, and equipment for instruction.
5. Utilize knowledge of basic computer/internet skills to supervise students when engaged in computer-based learning activities, as well as navigate the Google Workspace (Drive, Docs, Sheets, and Calendar).
6. Implement the use of technology to assist with communication and instruction (collect and document student data; develop and complete documents; email communications; and Infinite Campus use).
7. May participate in these same duties during special events such as Career Expo, College Night, Pave Your Own Path, CTSO competitions, etc. when students and instructors are involved.
8. Lead small group and whole class activities consistent with stated expectations.
9. Reading aloud various technical material for testing and learning purposes.
10. Work with diverse students and staff.
11. Create and establish a positive learning environment with a range of learning abilities and pathways.

13. Assist in addressing individual student performance levels, needs, and abilities.
14. Maintain and document intervention techniques, student behavioral data, and progress relative to IEP goals.
15. Willingness to travel and attend field trips, student conferences, and student competitions with instructors and classes.
16. Facilitate SAT prep to students as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS Education: High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
Experience: Minimum of two years of work in education or an education-related setting is preferred.

2. Excellent human relations skills and a working knowledge of the English language in written and verbal form.

5. Interpersonal skills – cooperative, courteous, flexible, good natured, and concerned with being helpful and making a good impression.
6. Effective work skills – conscientious, persistent, resourceful, productive and active.
7. Under the direction of the classroom teacher, evaluate student performance using formal and informal assessment activities and measures.
8. Consistently implement universal precautions to assist with maintaining a healthy school environment, personal health, and the health of each student.
9. Assist teachers in implementation of classroom management, establishing a positive learning environment, and implementation of students’ behavior plans.
10. Ability to provide positive behavioral support to students in a group and in an individual setting.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with students, other faculty, staff, and parents as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle, or feel objects and controls. The position also entails significant walking, bending, standing, stooping, and other physical tasks associated with being in a classroom setting.

WORK ENVIRONMENT Clinton County RESA’s countywide CTE Programming is housed in various locations throughout Clinton County. Some travel, as well as occasional evening work, will be required.
