What The Role Entails
The Director of Quality Control is responsible for the development and implementation of the construction QA and QC program throughout CloudHQ’s portfolio. The director shall be adept at strategic planning, team leadership, program development and implementation, and shall have strong technical aptitude in construction process and procedures as well as the installation of electrical and mechanical systems. This role guides execution of the construction process that is designed to identify and resolve issues early in the design and to ensure reliability, safety, and cost effectiveness of CloudHQ’s projects. The Director of Quality will lead the team in quality efforts in support commissioning and overseeing third-party Q/QC agents as needed. Strong communication and problem-solving skills, with a commitment to safety and quality. A results-driven leader dedicated to achieving excellence in the construction industry. Manages customer expectations and relationships with facilities operations throughout the project regarding quality installation and turnover to the client.
Requirements
What You Get to Do
- Ensure quality program and lessons learned are implemented across construction program to include KPI’s and continuous improvement such that repeat deficiencies are not occurring and are not impacting commissioning and operations activities.
- Manage data center quality project delivery strategy in alignment with the road map strategy.
- Develops, implements, and ensures participation in CloudHQ’s quality processes, procedures and Standards with general contractors and trades.
- Refines practices/policies and develops methods/techniques for driving solutions including development of quality procedures.
- Provide oversight of the contracted QA/QC field team assigned to a data center construction projects in NAM and LATAM region.
- Perform and ensure site inspections are adequate to support the execution of Quality and Commissioning process.
- Regularly reviews construction progress, QA/QC, commissioning progress, issues, lessons learned and KPI metrics to report to management.
- Coordinate meetings and activities of vendor project managers including integration of lessons learned.
- Manage Factory Witness Test attendance and expectations, conduct factory audits, and lead supply chain annual business reviews to include feedback and lessons learned.
- Attends scheduled owner/architect/contractor (OAC) and other project meetings, and report as necessary.
- Performance management of quality control personnel.
PLEASE NOTE: This role requires regular on-site presence with travel locally within region on a regular basis.
What You Bring to The Role
- A minimum of an Associate's degree in engineering technology or equivalent experience
- A minimum of seven (7) years in a data center environment managing construction projects/operations including five (5) years of Data Center quality and commissioning experience
- Extensive knowledge of Quality management systems that can be applied to data centers
- Data Center construction project management
- Very Strong experience in Data Center facility maintenance, operation and/or commissioning
- Knowledge of Electrical and Mechanical Testing Equipment
- Technical Knowledge of MEP and CSA systems
- Agile team leader who is additive to the team, will develop employees and seek to further success
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
- Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers and internal staff
- Ability to coordinate, supervise, and communicate with contractors who perform maintenance or upgrade work on these systems
- Ability to operate in and promote a process-driven team environment
- Ability to logically analyze and solve problems
- Ability to effectively multi-task multiple projects

- Understanding of electrical UPS systems, switchgear, generators, and critical mechanical systems

- Proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), MS Visio, MS Project
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift heavy equipment, up to 50 lbs
- Use of sight, hearing and voice are required as well as motor skills
- Close visual work on a computer terminal
- Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate any required to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other technical instruments
- Ability to climb ladders and worked on raised platforms
- Ability to transition through construction projects at every phase safely
Work Conditions
- This position is expected to be remote with regular need to be on site
- Typical data center work environment with varying temperatures and loud noises
- Extensive daily usage of a computer or workstation
- Travel up to 50%, to ensure quality, commission and deliver the project as client turn over dates require
Special Requirements
- Must be comfortable working in a high-stress, fast-paced environment shifting priorities
- Must be willing to work outside normal business hours, including weekends, late nights, holidays, and on-call support
- Must be available by cell phone after hours or for emergency situations
- Must possess a current, valid state-issued driver’s license
