Coos Economic Development Corporation (CEDC) is a 501(c)3 regional development corporation covering the state of New Hampshire and parts of Essex County, Vermont. Our mission is to promote and support economic growth and development to foster a strong and diverse workforce, sustainable employment and a thriving business environment.

Role

The Executive Director is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Corporation to include the development and delivery of programs and services that support and increase the economic vitality of Coös County and the surrounding region, consistent with the Corporation Bylaws. This position reports to the Corporation Board of Directors.

Accountabilities

1. Works with the Board of Directors in establishing, implementing, and maintaining policies, operating, and reporting procedures to achieve the overall mission of CEDC and afford the Corporation both adequate profitability and sustainability.

2. Assists in the preparation of grant and loan applications and is responsible for helping to coordinate funding packages, as needed, on behalf of businesses.

3. Provides information, technical advice, and problem-solving assistance services to municipalities and existing, new, or prospective businesses.

Manages all RLF loan accounts/activities, Community Development Block Grants (CDBG), and any other economic development related financial commitments.

4. Works with the Corporation’s directors and, in particular, treasurer on the tracking and fulfillment of CEDC financial/program obligations, including loan payments, reimbursement, insurance, program expense, as well as revenue and fundraising.

5. Maintains liaison with private and public economic, community, and business development organizations to effect communication, collaboration and cooperation.

6. Represents the Corporation in workshops, seminars, meetings and conferences as appropriate in support of the Corporation purposes.

7. Develops and disseminates promotional and informational materials on the services, programs, and activities of the Corporation for general and specific distribution including appropriate media releases, business and industry recruitment advertisements.

8. Provides timely and accurate budget and management reporting.

9. Perform other duties as assigned by the Board of Directors.

Knowledge, Skills, Ability Required

Considerable knowledge of resources, laws, principles, practices and current developments relating to the activities of the Corporation. Ability to provide effective technical assistance to a wide clientele of both public and private entities. Ability to develop and deliver business development and outreach programs. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form. Ability to write technical information. Functional skills with computer and a variety of programs. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with federal, state and other public officials. Ability to develop and retain public confidence in the Corporation.

Compensation

Starting salary is commensurate with experience, plus benefits including contributions to health insurance. This is not a remote position and may require long and irregular hours. The position requires a valid driver’s license, vehicle, and a flexible lifestyle.
