Job Overview
Coast Plaza Hospital, LP seeks a skilled Digital Imaging Specialist to perform diagnostic imaging procedures at a technical level sufficient to provide adequate diagnosis. This role involves conducting a variety of diagnostic radiography imaging procedures to provide data for diagnosis and monitoring of disease and injuries in accordance with all applicable standards, regulations, and licensing requirements.
The successful candidate will assist physicians and radiologists in performing radiological procedures on patients ranging in age from pediatric to geriatric. They will establish and maintain quality control procedures for Imaging Services, ensuring that images are of high quality and meet the required standards.
This position requires active and consistent contributions to department operations and communications, adhering to the mission, vision, and values of Coast Plaza Hospital, LP. The ideal candidate will uphold standards of AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, Thank you) patient communication, providing exceptional customer service and ensuring patient satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
* Performs and/or assists with all radiographic procedures with efficiency and quality according to the approved Departmental Procedures Manual.
* Reviews images for proper positioning, technique, and patient identification to be sent to the radiologist as a completed examination.
* Demonstrates the ability to correctly image and identify anatomical structures as it relates to diagnostic imaging and uses proper patient positioning. Correctly marks images with appropriate notations and initials.
* Demonstrates proper use of patient shielding devices and uses ALARA consistently while performing job tasks.
* Completes patients' intake process, takes patients' histories, and prepares and educates patients about the imaging procedure.
* Reviews patients' charts and doctors' notes before the examination and maintains patients' records during and after procedures.
* Prepares contrast media for diagnostic imaging.
* Calibrates equipment to ensure clear, usable images are taken of the correct area, as specified by the doctor.
* Logs and organizes image results, develops film, assists with the interpretation of radiograph results, and consults with radiologists to determine if other images need to be taken.
* Performs finalizing functions, including limited coding using radiology information systems or medical record systems to provide timely and accurate patient information and charge capture.
* Ensures proper sterilization and storage of equipment, maintains radiographic equipment, and reports any equipment failures.
* Coordinates with the radiology department to schedule and complete radiographic procedures.
* Maintains up-to-date knowledge of current radiology practices.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
* One year experience preferred

* PC (computer) skills

Licensure/Certifications:
* Certified Radiology Technologist, CRT/RHF, required
* American Registry of Radiology Technologists, ARRT, required
* Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA), required
* AB508 Workplace Violence Prevention (4 hour) due within 30 days or Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB 1 or MAB 2), Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) or other certification covering AB508 and SB1299.
