We are looking for an experienced full-time Senior Accountant. This position works Mondays through Fridays in a professional setting. We have one position available to sit at either our headquarters in Atlanta, GA or at our largest branch in Hilton Head Island, SC. This is not a remote or hybrid position. Out of town applications will not be considered. Salary is commensurate with experience.
The Senior Accountant works with a dynamic and engaging team to perform high-level accounting in an effort to ensure the timely and accurate delivery of financial statements and reporting to management and investors. The individual ensures that the records follow generally accepted accounting principles, bank accounting practices, tax regulations and comply with requirements and other regulations as warranted for the position. They act as a back-up for specific duties and critical tasks within the finance and accounting department when needed.

Essential Functions:
- Prepares accounting entries in multiple areas, such as investment securities, loans, allowance for credit losses, and other areas as needed.
- Ensures proper settlement of investment securities transactions, execute wire transfers between accounts as needed, and communicating appropriately with safekeeping third parties and internal bond accounting.
- Prepares balance sheet reconciliations in accordance with Company standards.
- Reconciles and resolves discrepancies for many of the bank and subsidiaries general ledger accounts.
- Analyzes monthly general ledger variances and provides support explaining primary causes.
- Conducts research and resolves accounting-related issues at the direction of the Assistant Controller.
- Prepares data from multiple sources to support the loan loss reserve analysis (CECL)
- Supports the internal and external audit processes by providing information as needed and answering questions.
- Communicates consistently and effectively with Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, & CAO regarding issues, challenges, and resource needs.
- Acts as back-up for other accounting team members when needed and assists in developing enhanced accounting related tasks with the goal of increasing accuracy and delivery speed.
- Complete all mandatory training sessions as required by management.
- Comply with bank procedures and follow regulatory, operational and security guidelines. Contributes with team effort by working on special projects and reports, performing other job-related duties, at the discretion of the Assistant Controller or CAO.

Qualifications
Preferred Education/Experience/Software:
A minimum four-year degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred. A minimum of five years of accounting work experience is preferred (public, private, or combination). Experience in bank or financial services industry is preferred. Experience with accounting GL systems, banking core processing systems, and reconciliation software, and strong Microsoft Office skills are preferred. Proficient to advanced user of complex spreadsheets for financial analysis, including leveraging functions such as pivot tables, SUMIFS, XLOOKUP, and data filtering.
Additional Requirements:
Ability to work evenings and weekends when needed. Travel may be required (up to 20%).
Training:
Responsible for the timely completion of all required compliance training such as BSA, Information Security, and other job specific training as assigned.
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
Professional office environment. While performing the duties of this position, the team member is regularly required to operate standard office equipment. The team member is frequently required to communicate and perceive. The position is primarily stationary and not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions and requires sedentary work such as exerting up to 10 pounds of force 5% of the time and a negligible amount of force approximately 95% of the time.
