Position Information
The purpose of this classification is to assist with providing customer service and administrative support for the library system.
This part time Library Technician position is located in the Children's Department at the North Cobb Regional Library and will be working with children and families. This position will work some evenings and weekends including Sundays.
Essential Functions
Circulation / information services including : checking books in and out; registering patrons for library cards; registering patrons for voter registration cards.
Take fines for overdue books.
Assist in keeping daily statistics.
Develops and maintains a working knowledge about the organization and care of library materials, library services and programs.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or GED required; supplemented by six or more months work experience involving public interaction / customer service.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with children and young families.
- Great computer skills are needed in assisting patrons with downloading ebooks on their personal devices
Physical Abilities
Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and / or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or work station.
Sensory Requirements
Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
Environmental Factors
Essential functions are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
