Reports to: Food and Beverage Director

Job Knowledge, Core Competencies and Expectations
- Full oversight over the execution and reconciliation of private events
- Assists in the planning of private events at the discretion of the Food and Beverage Director
- Manages Private Event Budget and stays in line with departmental labor variance goals
- Serve as Manager on Duty when required
Job Summary (Essential Functions)
- The Banquet Captain is responsible for overseeing all aspects of private events held at the venue, ensuring exceptional guest experiences and seamless operations. This role involves executing events from start to finish, including liaising with clients, vendors and hosts. The captain will ensure that all event details, such as staffing, setup and service are meticulously handled to meet the client’s expectations and event goals. The Banquet Captain also plays a key role in providing leadership to the event staff. This individual will also develop financial reconciliation documents for all private events.
Job Tasks/Duties
- Oversee setups for Banquets; work with Director and staff to ensure efficiency in room
- resets
- Manage private events and communicate event details with staff
- Create and manage schedule for private events and setups; adheres to budgetary goals and limitations
- Communicate directly with host during events and as needed before and after events
- Able to expedite for served packages if need be; ensures all levels of served events are executed correctly
- Able to act as a Banquet Server if the need arises
- Directly supervise all servers, expeditors, bussers, and food runners. Assist all staff when necessary
- Build and bill all events through the Event Management tab in Jonas, communicate directly with accounting department to ensure the correct application of payments
- Assist in tracking revenue and profit for private events through Profit/Loss Reports; input all totals into yearly P&L tracker
- Ensure correct set up of A/V equipment to satisfy private event needs in respect of the member spaces
- Close the building after private events when necessary
At the discretion of the F&B Director, the Banquet Captain may also be requested to:
- Book private events and handle payments
- Order linen weekly based on upcoming member and private events
- Attend weekly Management meetings
- Perform interviews for Banquet staff
- Field comments, questions, and concerns from both members and private guests
Licenses and Special Requirements
- Food Safety Certification through accredited organization
- Alcoholic Beverage Certification through accredited organization
- CPR/AED Certification
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Required to stand for long periods and walk, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, stretch and twist or reach.
- Continuous repetitive motions.
- Work in hot, humid and noisy environment.
