General Description
The production supervisor position is responsible for supervising production employees in the remanufacturing and assembly environment, and to ensure the smooth running of the production process. The position plans and assigns work, implements policies and procedures and recommends improvements in production methods, equipment operating procedures and working conditions. The supervisor will lead, coach, and motivate people in their assigned area in order to maintain high quality products are produced safely and cost-efficiently through maximizing operational efficiency and continuous improvement of the process and system. The role requires someone dynamic, energetic, self-driven, results oriented, and above all, who has a positive “can do” outlook with a clear focus on deliverables.
The overall responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Ensure that Health and Safety rules are adhered to and all matters relating to this are dealt with using the resources within the company in line with the Company Safety Policy.
Take full responsibility for the quality and product that is produced within the shift in line with company quality standard process and procedures.
Monitor measure and report on department production and quality.
Ensure effective employee relations, provide employee coaching and development, resolve employee issues through problem resolution, and assist in making employment decisions.
Motivate your team.
Identify root causes of issues and take fast effective action to resolve the problems at hand.
Identify training needs, establish and maintain a training schedule.
Maintain housekeeping standards to ensure a clean and safe workplace.
Ensure company resources are used in an effective manner to ensure the best operating costs.
Perform accident investigations.
Establish and continually update standard operating procedures.
Participate in management meetings to assist in planning and to make recommendations on matters related to process, procedures and maintenance issues.
Skills, abilities and experience
3 to 5 years of experience in a production environment preferred but will train the right person
The ability to meet targets and deadlines
An approachable manner and good oral and written communication skills
Leadership skills to motivate staff and mange a team
Excellent problem solving skills
Proven experience as a production supervisor or similar role
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
Effective decision making skills
The ability to write reports and compile accurate data
A willingness to work flexibly
