What are the responsibilities and job description for the Windy Hill School - Temporary Float Teacher/Support Staff position at Colby-Sawyer College?
This temporary position will serve as a flexible and collaborative member of Windy Hill Lab School’s team of educators. A successful candidate will ensure optimal, high-quality practices and service by supporting the director and other school educators. This position will further provide care and developmentally appropriate education for children enrolled in Windy Hill programs, abide by licensing standards, model best practices in early-care education and adhere to NAEYC’s Code of Ethical Conduct.
This position is a full-time, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. schedule, from January 2, 2025, through June 30, 2025 (30 weeks).
Responsibilities
1. Serve as a substitute teacher when:
- Multiple substitute teachers are required for a class to be held.
- Colby-Sawyer College students are unavailable to do so (e.g., when Windy Hill is open while College students are on break).
- Needed to allow class coverage for teachers engaging in required professional development experiences and during weekly/monthly team meetings.
- Needed to ensure teaching teams are able to take daily breaks.
2. Check in with all classrooms each morning and afternoon and support as needed.
3. When not teaching, complete the following tasks:
- Assist the director as needed with administrative tasks.
- Serve as the point person to arrange substitute coverage when unplanned absences arise.
- Answer the phone and take messages.
- Welcome and support appropriate protocols for visitors.
- Register existing and new children, ensuring all forms are received and files are updated, including emergency contact information.
- Maintain class waitlists.
- Support a connected community through distribution of school-wide communications, created by director and/or teaching teams.
4. Maintain professional development as outlined by the State of NH.
