What are the responsibilities and job description for the Direct Support Professional (DSP) position at Coleman Tri-County Services?
CTS is looking for talented and engaging individuals to provide supports to adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities in their home and community. These are part or full time positions, with shifts through the week and weekend.
CTS provides vital, individualized, results-driven, therapeutic and supportive services for many adults and families of all backgrounds each year, facing challenges with life transitions, mental health, developmental/intellectual disability and basic human need.
This position pays a $15.00 hourly rate with increases based on certifications, authorizations and shift differentials.
Requirements:
- 18 years of age
- Technological skills
- Must be able to pass the S-TOFHLA (literacy test)
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Must be able to work weekends
- Preferred: Experience in the Human Services Field
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Facilitate supports focusing on personal outcomes and independence
- Support individuals in identifying community resources
- Facilitate social experiences
- Promote health and safety
- Administer medication and follow through on procedures under RN and Rule 116 guidance
- Facilitate medical appointments
- Facilitate budgeting, shopping and cooking
- Promote a well maintained home
- Facilitate basic home maintenance and furniture set up and assembly
- Take lead on ensuring a clean, sanitized and organized home
- Facilitate transportation (public transportation)
- Respond to crisis effectively
- Collaborate with service providers, community members and families
- Complete and maintain DSP required trainings and certificates
- Complete required documentation in a timely manner
- Attend and contribute to team meetings
