JOB SUMMARY:
The People & Operations Specialist oversees the administration of the People & Operations functions: with a focus on critical areas such as recruitment, learning and development, team member engagement, labor relations, wage and benefit administration, work permit applications, accounting, administration, hotel operations and compliance with statutory requirements. This role is vital in equipping each department with the personnel, guidance, and support necessary to achieve their customer service and business objectives effectively. Additionally, the People & Operations Specialist will support initiatives aimed at enhancing team member relations, fostering a positive workplace culture that boosts employee satisfaction and performance across the organization. This position will be based in Martha's Vineyard and will provide support as needed.

REPORTS TO: General Manager and Senior Vice President of People
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTION
- Oversee the daily operations of the People Department, ensuring efficient administration and support for all HR functions.
- Manage the People system, including payroll processes, data entry, separations, and report generation.
- Interview and evaluate candidates based on departmental needs, and actively participate in recruitment events to source talent.
- Clearly communicate People processes to managers and staff, covering areas such as labor compliance, recruitment, staff relations, and performance reviews.
- Foster a positive work environment and lead initiatives to enhance team member engagement and relations.
- Provide guidance and disciplinary support to colleagues, ensuring communication aligns with hotel policies.
- Coordinate corporate and hotel learning initiatives, promoting continuous development and training for team members.
- Implement training programs, including orientation, diversity initiatives, and service standards, tailored to departmental needs.
- Ensure adherence to all labor laws and regulations, reviewing practices and communicating any changes effectively.
- Supervise staff on matters related to workers' compensation and ensure compliance with relevant policies.
- Prepare budget forecasts, aligning with organizational financial goals. Supports accounts payable and receivables processes. Assists with monthly closings. Maintains accurate financial records.
- Maintain confidentiality and accuracy of all records and files.
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the General Manager and SVP of People.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:
EDUCATION
Four year college degree or 2 years of college and 4 years of work experience required.
EXPERIENCE
- 1-2 years Human Resources/People Department experience required.
- Luxury seasonal hotel experience desired.

Salary : $60,000 - $65,000
