What are the responsibilities and job description for the Non-Traditional Learning Spaces Faculty Facilitator position at College of Southern Idaho?
Timeline: For best consideration, applicants should apply by April 11th. Start time can be flexible between now and August 1st depending on the successful candidate.
Location: Position is located on the CSI Campus in Twin Falls, Idaho. This is a face-to-face position. Remote work is not an option.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Challenge Course
- Plan and coordinate Challenge Course activities (both indoor and outdoor).
- Oversee and train facilitators within limits established by national standards.
- Supervise course and element maintenance and safety inspections.
- Coordinate the purchase of supplies and equipment to ensure the course remains safe.
- Offer, extend, and promote experiential education workshops.
- Develop and coordinate a marketing plan for the challenge course.
- Schedule course use and assignment of facilitators.
- Process hiring and payroll for facilitators, assistants, and technicians.
- Manage budget, process expenditures and deposits, approve and process payables and receivables, and oversee/maintain accounting system.
- Plan and attend trainings as needed for staff.
- Receive visitors and handle inquiries in a knowledgeable manner.
- Prepare and distribute correspondence and mailings.
- Understand legal aspects related to hosting faculty and students on the CSI Challenge Course.
- Understand best practices in operating the activities of the Challenge Course and the CSI Outdoor classroom including industry standards promoted by the varying certifying bodies such as the ACCT, AMGA, ACA, PCIA and others
CSI Outdoor Program and Recreation Center
- Given the common interests shared by several groups on campus, the employee should be enthusiastic about collaboration with needs in the Outdoor Leadership Program, Recreation Center, and Wellness Program when necessary.
General Faculty Obligations
- Provide collegial support to activities that occur in the department.
- Assist the department chair in the development of semester schedules, textbooks, and outcomes assessment processes.
- Participate in faculty development goals to improve professional effectiveness including instructional evaluation processes, the “Online Teacher” certification training, the “New Teacher” effective teaching workshop, and other professional development opportunities to include a three-year onboarding process.
- Provide current copies of course syllabi (if needed) to chairperson each semester.
- Meet all scheduled classes and meetings promptly with any deviation being filed promptly and accurately through the appropriate channels.
- Assume responsibility for giving exams and other measurement necessary to determine student level of performance and understanding.
- Monitor student placement in courses and student progress; maintain accurate records.
- Interact with and advise students.
- Promote and help with learning assistance services.
- Cooperate with other areas of the College to provide an effective educational program.
- Assist in the preparation of budget requests for each year.
- Assume responsibility for all equipment assigned to the faculty member or to those under his or her supervision.
- Attend and participate in all departmental, division, and faculty meetings.
- Participate in all graduation exercises.
Qualifications and Skills
- MA in education, sports management, recreation administration, outdoor education, physical education, kinesiology/exercise science, or related field.
- Possess current First Aid & CPR certification (or ability to acquire).
- Ability to receive and maintain ACCT membership and certification.
- Excellent communication skills and experience as well as superior skills and experience working in diverse groups of people in a courteous and effective manner.
- Proven ability to successfully organize and manage a multitude of projects with attention to detail.
- Management and Supervision experience.
- Finance and budgeting experience.
- Communicate effectively and professionally both verbally and in writing.
- Able to maintain confidentiality with all matters.
- Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment.
- Proven ability to successfully deal with conflict and provide innovative problem solving.
- Strong service orientation with excellent interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to promote teamwork and manage challenging situations while courteously responding to changing socioeconomic and dynamic groups.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
