Summary/Objective
This position plays a critical role in understanding the impact of regulatory changes on the compliance of Colonial's products. This position requires collaboration and coordination with customers, Research and Development, Sales, Business, and Manufacturing functions. It requires independent work and building individual expertise in regulatory activities.
It provides chemical, regulatory, and technical guidance and expertise to all business units, operating locations, staff groups and company facilities regarding regulatory matters for TSCA, DSL/NDSL, HTS, Import/Export compliance and other chemical product registrations focusing on the Americas.

Essential Functions
- Liaise with R&D Chemists to maintain a thorough knowledge of products, chemistries and processes to correctly define post reaction chemistries according to international regulatory rules and guidance.
- Identify chemicals of concern in product formulations by leveraging company resources, including collaboration with company toxicologists for new materials. Communicate established thresholds for each chemical to all stakeholders and coordinate testing efforts to ensure appropriate actions, such as classification, specification adjustments, or ongoing monitoring.
- Conduct thorough reviews of new raw materials to ensure compliance with TSCA, OSHA, and import regulations. Pre-screen suppliers as needed using established criteria. Prepare necessary import documentation.
- Identify, determine applicability and timely communication of potential impact of new raw material on intermediates, finished products.
- Offer expert technical solutions for regional chemical inventory compliance. Stay up to date with evolving regulations, both internationally and domestically, and address inconsistencies or unclear interpretations by government agencies.
- Provide timely and appropriate responses to product chemical inventory compliance inquiries from customers, users, agencies, and others.
- Prepare new product registrations for Americas region, e.g. TSCA PMN/LVE/Polymer Exemptions, and Canadian DSL/NDSL notifications. Coordinate TSCA 8c and 8e reviews.
- Support existing lab safety programs including ensuring safety data sheets are easily accessible in online formats.
- Champion the collection of physical chemical properties and residual substances testing by requesting support, perform testing in the laboratory when required, and engaging external resources when in house testing is not possible or practical.
- Create and maintain product flow charts as required for customer reporting. These are top level depictions of important reaction steps to inform the customer of regulatory implications.
- Provide regulatory support and prepare submissions for certifications involving chemical requirements including but not limited to CleanGredients, COSMOS, and Natrue.
- Monitor the evolving global sustainability and ESG reporting landscape maintaining product related data for ISO 16128-1: 2016, RSPO, GHS, and other sustainability metrics.
- Develop and foster relationships with internal corporate support functions and with external agencies/groups to discuss future regulations and present comments to propose regulations.
- Take initiative to proactively encourage cross-functional support and relationships to address regulatory requirements in all business meetings, plans and objectives.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position; days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. This is not a remote position, and the expectation is that you would be on site during core business hours. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

- This position must be able to implement practical technical and strategic approaches that are dynamic and integrated with sound business management principles, fiscal responsibility, risk management techniques, and communications procedures.
- Must have good interpersonal and written and oral communication skills, and be capable of interacting with diverse groups at all technical levels such as customer service, plant personnel, R&D, customers, technical consultants, contractors, etc.
- Ability to accomplish assignments, goals, objectives and projects in an accurate and timely manner with minimal supervision.
- Bachelor's degree is preferred, or a minimum of 2 years of regulatory experience.
Salary : $70,000 - $80,000
