What are the responsibilities and job description for the Site Supervisor position at Colt Builders Corp?
Job purpose
Colt Builders is a turnkey multi-family commercial wood-framing subcontractor. Site Supervisors oversee all phases of a construction project from preconstruction to completion. Facilitates the communication between customer’s superintendent and on-site employees as well as subcontractors, vendors, clients, and administrative staff involved in the project.
Duties and responsibilities
General Company
- Represent Colt in a professional manner to the client.
- Lead and be the example to others representing Colt Focus Five values.
- Mentor and develop other team members in the policies, procedures, systems, and technical construction means and methods used by the Company.
- Have short & long-term plan for the career development of Assistant Site Supervisors, Foreman, and Carpenters.
- Actively work to increase job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
Safety
- Develop Site-Specific Safety Plan with the assistance of the Project Manager.
- Ensure compliance with the Colt SSSP, standard safe practices, and Colt clean, teach others and take corrective action when necessary
- Work with Safety Team to improve safety for all employees on the job site
- Perform or delegate the performance of job specific employee orientation and safety training
- Ensure and participate in the performance of all Colt required safety documentation
- Report and investigate all incidents involving Colt Builders’ employees, subcontractor employee and Colt contract work
- Monitor and report work activities of other trades to ensure they do not create safety hazards for Colt Builders’ employees
- Conduct weekly safety meetings with Colt Builders’ employees and subcontractor employees, and review safety issues encountered at the site
- Have all safety certifications and/or qualifications i.e., first-aid, CPR, AED, forklift operations, aerial/scissor lift operations etc.
Pre-Construction/Job Set up
- Work with PM to create an overall job build plan
- Have operational knowledge of the JSI and RFI log with the ability to alert the Project manager to missing or incorrect information.
- Review and have knowledge of contract Scope of Work and current plans.
- Review and have operational knowledge of material takeoff, P.O.s and the Estimator’s Area of Use
- Review shop drawings for all components for accuracy and efficiency, and be able to provide feedback to the Project Manager
- Set up onsite storage and office if necessary
- Create jobsite binders
Project Operations
- Administer an overall job build plan to complete the scope of work.
- Work with the entire Colt management team to assure all specific tasks are being completed according to the site’s Management Roles document.
- Coordinate and order loose material, hardware, and nails for the job
- Conduct weekly loose lumber and hardware inventories for the site and submit information to PM
- Coordinate ship dates with suppliers
- Manage and direct subcontractor and employee labor
- Confirm RFI’s, ASI’s, Structural Reports are being completed and documented
- Execute AWAs (Additional Work Authorizations) with the customer
- Work with PM to maintain and update the framing schedule
- Participate in client and Colt required jobsite meetings.
- Notify customer with “Work Not Ready” reports and “Deficiency by Others” reports
- Coordinate Colt operations with customer’s field team
- Coordinate with other trades on site for specific needs.
- Perform, document, and communicate Quality Control – Inspect building details for accuracy, inspect building for correct materials and inspect hardware, etc.
- Manage quality control inspections and approval with customers.
- Update Fieldwire with QC sheets, Tasks and Unit Sign-off sheets
Project Administration
- Have operational knowledge and thorough understanding of the job’s estimate, schedule, budget, site plans, site logistics, management needs, site access, scheduling/ordering of cranes, man lifts, forklifts and rigging.
- Work with the PM to perform hiring, firing, and current employee Outlooks.
- Manage hourly personnel for the job
- Collect, review, and send to office weekly required timekeeping
- Ensure hours, expenses, and subcontractor billing are reported correctly to the PM
- Turn in receiving slips to PM
- Complete Daily Work reports noting manpower counts, weather, constraints, type of work being completed in each area, safety concerns and delays.
Qualifications
*Ability to perform duties/activities of workers supervised*
- Have advanced framing knowledge
- Have advanced plan reading skills
- 3 Years’ experience of supervision in the field
- Have knowledge and experience in site management
- Have ability to use Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Fieldwire
- Be certified or able to be certified in CPR, AED, and First-aid response
- OSHA 30-hour construction training
Working conditions
Full time salary position, requiring minimum of 40 hours/week on site - weekend work may be required. Environmental factors depend on job location but may include cold, hot, and humid conditions. Work is performed both indoors and outdoors and sometimes at extreme heights. Must be able to effectively handle large workloads.
Essential Function requirements
Should be capable of walking, lifting, carrying, climbing, kneeling and balancing. Certain amounts of strength, dexterity and alternates is required. Must follow all safety requirements of the job. Lift up to 50lbs
