The Completion Coach (CC) will assist in the delivery of comprehensive specialized services to enhance the retention and completion results of students at Columbia Basin College.  The CC will employ proactive interventions for at-risk students, academic progress monitoring, general systems navigation, educational planning, success coaching and academic advising to support retention, persistence, and completion.  This position will be responsible for retention efforts and advising for students, and for a comprehensive communication plan to assist students with college transition. 


The Completion Coach reports to the Director for Advising, Retention & Completion.

  • Provide intentional, holistic support to students throughout their time at the College;
  • Develop, manage and facilitate a student contact program to assist with college transition and to provide support throughout the quarter;
  • Develop and manage an academic early warning intervention program and provide follow-up services for referred students to identify and apply retention and completion strategies;
  • Develop, monitor and facilitate a degree completion intervention process to alert students to the graduation process;
  • Provide timely and accurate educational information to students regarding pathways, degrees, certificates, courses, college policies and procedures as well as campus resources;
  • Assist students in identifying effective problem-solving skills, self-advocacy approaches, decision making and personal responsibility;
  • Disseminate information on programs and services to students, College staff and the community; and
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Bachelor's degree from an institutionally accredited college or university; 
  • Two (2) years of experience working with diverse populations of varied ethnicities, ages, backgrounds and abilities in an educational, nonprofit or social service setting; and
  • Experience giving oral presentations in a group setting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree from a regionally accredited college or university;
  • One (1) year of experience working with under prepared adults, first generation college students, and/or students with special needs;
  • Bilingual and biliterate in English and Spanish; and
  • Experience in a community college setting.

This is a full-time, overtime eligible, professional staff position. The typical work hours for this position are Monday through Thursday 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Friday 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.; however, work hours will vary due to work demands (this will include evening and weekend work as required).

WORKING CONDITIONS
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, bend, kneel, stoop, communicate, reach and manipulate objects. The position requires mobility including having the ability to move materials on a regular basis such as files, books, office equipment, etc. and travel between buildings on campus. Manual dexterity and coordination are required to operate equipment such as computer keyboard, calculator, and standard office equipment.

Work environment includes office and other settings as appropriate. It is a fast paced and sometimes stressful service environment.  The noise level in the work area is typical of most office environments with telephones, personal interruptions, and background noises. This position has an occasional need for travel.

Salary : $61,306 - $67,767
