Position Summary
The Columbia Center for Clinical Medical Ethics seeks a skilled Program Manager to oversee all Center operations. Key responsibilities include managing educational programs, coordinating calendars and events like public lectures and conferences, handling travel arrangements, managing promotional efforts including social media, preparing annual reports, assisting with grant writing, and supporting research projects.
Responsibilities
- Manage logistics for all Center events, including coordinating calendars, catering, promotions, travel, honoraria, finances, and advertising.
- Assist the Center Director and faculty with research projects as needed.
- Conduct literature searches and summarize findings.
- Provide editorial support for various documents, including research materials, publications, grant proposals, recommendations, and student work.
- Contribute to the planning and execution of medical ethics conferences, symposia, and discussion groups (book/journal clubs).
- Perform additional duties as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in education, training and experience plus four years of related experience.
- Master's degree in related field would substitute in part for experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Proven ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
- Proficiency in computer use and experience performing literature searches.
- Capability to maintain meticulous records.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interact with faculty, staff, and students at all levels.
- Experience coordinating large-scale conferences or meetings.
- Prior experience in medical ethics or moral philosophy.
- In-depth knowledge of bioethics and medical ethics.
- A strong aptitude for and interest in writing.
- Successful completion of applicable compliance and systems training requirements.
