Columbus Academy seeks a full-time Middle and Upper School Science Teacher with responsibilities to begin in August 2025.
The individual selected for this position will be expected to carry out the following responsibilities:

Columbus Academy seeks a full-time Middle and Upper School Science Teacher with responsibilities to begin in August 2025.
The individual selected for this position will be expected to carry out the following responsibilities:
- Teach at least four sections of science, two to three of those sections in both the middle or upper schools which meet regularly but not daily
- Assume a limited share of supervisory responsibilities expected of all middle and upper school faculty members
- Collaborate with departmental colleagues on curriculum design and development
- Provide periodic updates to parents about student progress via both written reports and conferences
- Make use of technological resources, including the school’s online learning management site for classes and integration of iPads and laptops in classroom activities
- Hold students accountable for the school’s standards of behavior
- Work with others in the school community to support each student's emotional well-being
Preferred candidates will possess the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in science
- Experience teaching laboratory-based science in middle or high school
- Ability to teach life science, physical science, astronomy, chemistry, and environmental science
- Science Teacher with a focus on Environmental Science and Outdoor Education to inspire students through hands-on, experiential learning. Our 231-acre campus, complete with forests, fields, stream, a greenhouse, and gardens, serves as an extended classroom, providing endless opportunities for outdoor exploration and ecological studies. The ideal candidate will integrate climate and sustainability principles into the curriculum, lead engaging field studies, and cultivate a love for science through real-world environmental projects.

Candidates Must Be Able To Manage The Following Conditions
- Classroom environment
- Mobility around school buildings and on different floors (handicap accessible)
- Repetitive motion (use of a keyboard)
- Periodic need to move light furniture, hang visuals in classroom, carry objects (no more than 40 pounds), etc.
