Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced and technically proficient IT Support Specialist to join our team in Bloomington, IN. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in IT support within mixed network environments and will be passionate about troubleshooting, learning, and providing excellent user support with patience and professionalism. This role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams using tools like Jira Service Management (JSM) to enhance our IT infrastructure and services. Exposure to AI and machine learning concepts is a plus.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Desktop & Laptop Support: Provide comprehensive support for Windows 10 and 11 systems, including troubleshooting, configuration, and hardware/software maintenance.
  • Software Management: Install, configure, and maintain frequently used applications such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), Teams, OneDrive, Slack, Adobe products, and other Microsoft 365 apps.
  • Server & Virtualization: Assist with the maintenance and troubleshooting of Unix/Linux servers and VMware environments.
  • Mobile Devices: Set up, transfer data, and troubleshoot mobile phones (iOS and Android) and iPads for end users.
  • Network Administration: Address networking issues, including connectivity, VPNs, and hardware configurations, while ensuring robust security practices.
  • Microsoft 365 & Security: Support and manage Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange, SharePoint, and Defender. Maintain endpoint security and compliance across all devices.
  • Hardware & Upgrades: Assist with hardware installations, upgrades, and replacements for laptops, desktops, and peripherals.
  • User Support: Respond promptly to technical inquiries, troubleshooting issues to resolution with excellent communication and documentation.
  • Scripting and Automation: Develop basic scripts (PowerShell, Bash, or similar) to automate common tasks, with opportunities to enhance coding skills for web-based applications.
  • Collaboration & IT Service Management: Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams using JiraService Management (JSM) to manage and resolve IT issues efficiently.
  • AI and Machine Learning Exposure: Engage with basic AI and machine learning concepts as they relate to IT support and automation.

Required Qualifications:

  • Technical Proficiency:
  • Advanced understanding of Windows 10/11 environments.
  • Proficiency with commonly used applications and tools: Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), Teams, OneDrive, Exchange Admin Center, SharePoint, Slack, Adobe products, and Defender.
  • Experience working with Unix/Linux servers and VMware environments.
  • Familiarity with Active Directory, Group Policy, and user account management in a Windows Domain Controller environment.
  • Experience implementing and managing Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) solutions, particularly within Microsoft 365 environments.
  • Hands-on experience with mobile devices (iOS and Android) and iPad setup, data transfer, and troubleshooting.
  • Solid networking skills, including familiarity with firewalls, switches, VPNs, and Wi-Fi configurations.

Education and Experience:

  • Professional Experience: Proven experience in IT support roles is essential; practical skills are highly valued.
  • Education: Formal education in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline is beneficial but not mandatory.
  • Alternative Qualifications: Combination of education, training, and work experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.

Problem-Solving Skills:

  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities across hardware, software, and network environments.
  • Ability to develop and implement effective solutions promptly.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) for task automation.

Interpersonal Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
  • Patience and professionalism when addressing user needs.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Experience with collaborative tools like Jira Service Management (JSM).

Preferred Qualifications (Bonus Skills):

  • Experience with scripting and automation tools.
  • Knowledge of coding principles and an interest in developing web-based applications.
  • Exposure to AI and machine learning concepts.
  • Advanced experience in network and endpoint security practices.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A , Network , Security , Microsoft Certified Professional).

Interpersonal Skills:

  • Ability to collaborate effectively in cross-functional teams.
  • Proficient in using Jira Service Management (JSM) for tracking and managing tasks.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $24.00 - $29.00 per hour
