PRIMARY FUNCTION
The members of the accounting department ensure that Cavco’s financial books and records are appropriately maintained in a timely and accurate manner. They maintain the chart of accounts, general ledger and all subsidiary ledgers. They process accounts receivables and accounts payable as well as maintain lists of authorized vendors. The accounting group works directly with the external auditors and financial reporting to ensure GAAP and SEC compliance.
The Controller provides support to the general manager with transactional accounting processing and coordination of initiatives supporting plant operations. He/she may oversee accounting clerks and other plant support staff – helping to ensure smooth operations across the manufacturing environment. This role works independently executing process steps, conducting analysis, problem solving and delivering recommendations.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- The Controller is responsible for the accounting function at the plant. This includes the completion and/or the supervision of personnel performing the cost accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, human resources, and payroll functions.
- The Controller must implement and maintain accounting procedures as directed by the corporate office, and develop others as needed to ensure that internal controls are proper, and the company’s assets and records are safeguarded.
- The Controller is responsible for the accuracy, reliability, and timeliness of financial information.
- The Controller should coordinate all clerical, personnel and office systems to ensure the orderly and timely flow of information.
- The Controller is responsible for the credit administration and the collection of receivables.
- Participate with other departments completing inventory counts of raw materials. Controller is responsible for organizing count sheets, extending inventory value, and reconciliation.
- Prepare journal entries as needed for each month end close.
- Prepare annual budget and revise as necessary monthly.
- Review month-end statements and reports to ensure timely and accurate information concerning the plant’s operations.
- Submit administration payroll information for processing and review payroll calculations.
- Review plant operations for adherence to Corporate Polices and report any deviations to the appropriate individuals.
- Ensure that all reporting for plant, Corporate and others are done on an accurate and timely basis.
- Maintain healthy working relationships with all associates and corporate personnel
- Prepare special reporting as directed by Corporate or local management and perform other duties as assigned.
