We are currently accepting applications for an Accounting Specialist based in our San Jose Corporate Office.
Under the direction of the Accounting Manager, your major responsibilities will include:
- Maintaining the Credit Union’s accounting records and reports, ensuring they are accurate and reconciled in a timely manner in compliance with generally accepted accounting practices and credit union accounting practices.
- Reconciling assigned general ledger accounts and subsidiary ledgers (supporting schedules) daily, weekly and monthly.
- Providing assistance relating to general ledger and other Corporate Accounting functions to to other team members as needed.
- Performing month-end close processing on General Ledger, Fixed Assets, and Prepaid Expenses.
- Preparing and posting interest accruals on investments and loans.
- Preparing and posting expense accruals including calculations of payroll accruals.
- Assisting in the preparation of monthly financial reports such as balance sheets and income statements. Financial ratios, loan and deposit reports, investment reports and charge offs and recoveries reports.
- Analyzing income and expense accounts to ensure accuracy of income statements and determine cause of budget variances as needed.
- Preparing budget versus actual variance analysis report on noninterest income and non- interest expense.
- Assisting in the preparation of NCUA 5300 call reports timely and accurately an serve as back-up to Accounting Manager.
- Processing Accounts Payable.
Our ideal candidate will possess: three to five years of similar or related experience. Working knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles). Ability to multi-task, work independently and prioritize a variety of tasks and projects a necessity. Proven attention to detail strong problem resolution skills and follow through a must. Proficient in Microsoft Outlook , Excel, and Word. Experience with accounting software strongly preferred. Outstanding verbal and written communication skills are a must. Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and conduct oneself with high level of diplomacy and tact.
Pay Range: $27.26/hour - $34.07/hour; based on skills and experience.
