If so, Lake Barkley State Park may have the job for you. Lake Barkley State Park Golf Course is seeking to hire the position of Golf Course Superintendent.
This is a full-time position, offering numerous benefits with the Commonwealth of Kentucky, and if you inquire about this job do not forget to ask about the Department of Parks "Park Familiarization Program" for full-time employees! Lake Barkley State Resort Park is in Western Kentucky near Cadiz Kentucky. This Larry Packard designed 18-hole golf course (Boots Randolph Golf Course) has USGA greens converted in the summer of 2020 to Tifeagle Ultradwarf bermudagrass. Tees, fairways and primary rough are Tifway II bermudagrass and secondary rough is warm and cool season grasses.
An exciting project in motion is the complete restoration/mitigation of Blue Spring Creek, a beautiful spring-fed creek that drains the entire surrounding area through the golf course into Lake Barkley. Not only will this creek be an environmental masterpiece, but it will also enhance several of the golf holes. This project nearing completion is being led by the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife with close collaboration of the Department of Parks Golf Staff. Another exciting project in the works is a complete replacement of the irrigation system, which is in the design phase.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with an associate degree in plant science, turf management or a related field.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: One year experience as a Golf Course Assistant Superintendent.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: NONE
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Three years as a golf course superintendent or golf course assistant superintendent in addition to a Certificate of Turfgrass Management from an accredited university can substitute for the required education.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license to qualify for employment in this job classification. Must obtain Kentucky Pesticide Applicator License within six months of employment. The N-18 Pesticide Applicators License required by this position can be obtained by passing the test administered by the Kentucky Department of Agriculture.
Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification. Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possesses and maintains required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials.
Working Conditions
Work is typically performed outside in a variety of climatic conditions. Work involves use of potentially toxic materials such as insecticides, fungicides, and fertilizers.

- Experience managing a team of maintenance employees.
