In this role, you will be responsible for operating Pennsylvania “Class C” vehicles, which encompass light equipment as well as specific specialty tools, to ensure the maintenance and protection of the Tioga State Forest’s infrastructure and natural resources. Your duties will include the operation of motor vehicles, light machinery, and both hand and power tools to perform routine maintenance and various assigned projects related to the upkeep of Forest District 16’s roads, trails, boundary lines, bridges, buildings, picnic areas, gate barriers, and informational signage. It is essential that all equipment and tools are utilized safely and efficiently, adhering to established safety standards.
You will be expected to carry out daily maintenance tasks, scheduled servicing, and minor repairs as necessary, while any requirement for major repairs should be promptly communicated to your supervisor. The equipment you will handle includes 4-wheel-drive pickup trucks, utility tractors, and road rakes, along with power tools such as compressors, tampers, chainsaws, water pumps, weed cutters, lawn mowers, leaf blowers, mist blowers, generators, table saws, cut-off saws, drills, grinders, arc welders, and forest fire equipment. Additionally, you will use various hand tools for mechanical, carpentry, masonry, plumbing, electrical, landscaping, and firefighting tasks, as well as office equipment like computers and telephones. Your responsibilities will also involve manual labor, which includes painting boundary lines, cleaning sluice pipes and ditches, picking stones, cutting brush, landscaping, mowing grass, removing trash and litter, cleaning restrooms, buildings, and vehicles, creating and installing signs, performing structural repairs and new construction, and engaging in wildfire suppression efforts. Furthermore, you will maintain accurate records, including daily logs for fuel and equipment usage, maintenance documentation, HAZMAT shipping papers, and personal time and attendance records on the district's computer system.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- This is a seasonal, full-time position WITHOUT benefits. The season runs from approximately March 2025 until November 2025 at which the employee is placed on leave without pay.
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM Tuesday - Thursday; 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Friday, with 30-minute lunch.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Conditions of Employment:
- This position will require possession of a valid PA non-commercial Class C driver’s license or equivalent.
