About the Position:

The Virginia State Police (VSP) is seeking to hire a Program Support Technician in our Criminal Justice Information Services Division at our Administrative Headquarters in North Chesterfield, Virginia. The successful candidate will coordinate with law enforcement agencies to ensure sex offenders transferring out of state remain compliant with registry laws; conduct data review, research, and analysis using various databases in accordance with §9.1-900 through §9.1-918 of the Code of Virginia; assist with key administrative functions of the Sex Offender Registry, including offender notifications, registration updates, investigative case processing, and records management; and manage correspondence, verify data accuracy, and respond to inquiries from offenders, law enforcement, and the public.

Minimum Qualifications

•Working knowledge of general office practices and procedures.
•Skilled in using a personal computer and Microsoft Office applications, and keyboarding.
•Demonstrated ability to research and analyze information and make logical decisions based on policies, procedures, and laws; perform research on questionable data by applying established procedures from training and learn laws regarding registration requirements; apply general knowledge of computer formatted functions, state, federal codes and regulation; exercise independent judgment and apply prescribed policies, procedures; follow written and verbal instructions, and pay close attention to details; work independently and as part of a team; and communicate effectively orally and in writing in English.
•Progressively responsible administrative experience in researching and analyzing data from a variety of sources to determine validity and identify missing elements.
•Must be eligible to become Virginia Criminal Information Network (VCIN) certified, which requires either being a United States citizen or a lawful permanent resident of the United States and eligible for naturalization.
•High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
