What are the responsibilities and job description for the Payroll Specialist position at Commonwealth Payroll?
Commonwealth Payroll is recruiting for a new Payroll Specialist. This is a newly created position due to growth and a great opportunity to be mentored by an experienced manager. This position has the option of being an in-office position based in Virginia Beach or a hybrid position that includes working remote.

Responsibilities: The essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to the following:
- Work with clients to create and process their payrolls accurately and timely
- Respond to customer support tickets and resolve payroll related questions and issues
- Leverage an understanding of federal and state taxes, insurance policies, employee benefits, PTO, and accruals to support clients as needed
- Run and review payroll reports prior to processing to ensure payrolls and taxes are correct and on an ad hoc basis as needed
- Execute time and attendance processing and interface with payroll
- Process correct garnishment calculations and compliance
- Assist with accurate and timely year-end reporting when necessary (W2s, 1095s, 1099s etc.)
Qualifications:
- At least 4 years of experience in Payroll
- FPC or CPP is preferred
- An Associates or Bachelor's Degree is preferred, but not required
- Must be a team player and be able to meet tight deadlines,
- High level of detail-orientation, time management, and organizational skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills.

Pay: $55,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
