Junior Project Manager
Overview:
An industrial HVAC equipment and services provider is seeking a motivated Junior Project Manager to support project management, estimating, purchasing, and administrative tasks within the construction department. This role plays a key part in project execution and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities:
Estimating (Bid Preparation & Costing)
- Review, organize, and distribute bid requests and documents.
- Gather pricing from subcontractors/vendors and assist with takeoffs.
- Enter labor and material costs for small projects and generate proposals.
- Obtain construction manager approval for estimates and proposals.
Purchasing & Procurement
- Identify and procure necessary materials and equipment for projects.
- Negotiate pricing and issue purchase orders with approval.
- Review and approve equipment submittals for design-build jobs.
- Track, schedule, and coordinate deliveries and subcontractor work.
Project Management
- Schedule and coordinate job activities with contractors, foremen, and technicians.
- Manage job progress, manpower, and resource allocation.
- Dispatch technicians and adjust schedules as needed.
Administrative (Job & Cost Management)
- Create and track budgets for new jobs.
- Maintain job cost sheets and enter data into internal systems (VMS).
- Organize and archive job folders as needed.
Accounts Payable & Purchasing Records
- Set up new vendors and subcontractors in VMS.
- Generate and distribute purchase orders.
- Review and approve invoices for accuracy.
Billing & Accounts Receivable
- Track project costs and generate monthly invoices.
- Prepare AIA invoices and lien waivers with manager approval.
- Follow up on outstanding invoices with customers.
General HR & Office Tasks
- Process timesheets and enter payroll data.
- Assist HR with insurance, uniform orders, and scheduling.
- Order tools, supplies, and job-related materials as needed.
- Address employee concerns and escalate to HR when necessary.
Qualifications:
- Degree Preferred: BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience in HVAC project management/administration.
- Experience:
- 2 years in mechanical/manufacturing environments if no degree.
- 2 years of estimating experience.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, email, and data entry.
- Ability to read blueprints and operate scanners, printers, and copiers.
- Experience in purchasing, cost tracking, and project coordination.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and multitasking abilities.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Salary : $75,000 - $85,000
