What are the responsibilities and job description for the Community Engagement Intern position at Communities for Youth?
Communities for Youth is seeking multiple interns (up to five each semester) to work with us as we implement youth mental health initiatives across the state of Idaho.
Job Description
Community engagement interns will get hands-on experience working with community members. Interns will have an opportunity to facilitate small groups, conduct focus groups with teens, collect data on youth mental health, assist in the planning and execution of initiative events in various communities across Idaho. All interns will also get training in both group facilitation and data collection to add to their skillsets. Interns will have the option to stay on for additional semesters.
Requirements
- Interns must be available to work some weekday evenings.
- While not all your hours are evening work, we host most of our initiative meetings and events in the evening, and you would need to be available to participate.
- Great people skills, patience in the face of adversity, out-going/engaging in public settings, flexible and willing to change priorities on the fly.
- Upper-level or graduate-level status
- GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Must be willing to commit at least 45 hours during the course of the semester
Course Credit (optional)
The internship can be 1 to 2 credits, with each credit equaling 45 hours of work. Two credit interns work about 90 hours per semester, or about 6 hours a week, although the hours per week will vary.
Internship credit is offered at the 400 and 500 level depending on your status as a student.

Review Dates: We review for interns twice a year in mid-August for Fall, and mid-December for Spring Interns. All material must be submitted but the 15th of the month of review for consideration.
