Founded in 1974, Community Access continues to uphold and operate as a pioneer of supportive housing and social services in NYC for people with mental health concerns. We proudly lead advocacy efforts that rally our community to promote human rights, social justice, and economic opportunities for all. Our programs are spread across 25 locations and include over 1200 units of supportive housing in three boroughs, the Howie the Harp Advocacy Center, Peer-driven Crisis Respite Center, Adult Home Initiative, Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) and the Intensive Mobile Team (IMT).
Department Overview
The human resources department is responsible for supporting Community Access’ vision, mission and values by delivering excellent customer service in meeting the staffing, compensation, benefits and employee relations needs of the organization. The department works closely with all levels of staff to address and respond to their needs in a professional, trustworthy and timely manner.
Position Overview
The Human Resources Generalists serves as an internal consultant and partners with assigned managers and programs to strategically and proactively recommend HR Solutions that address program and employee needs and objectives. This position serves as a professional team member in the delivery of full-cycle HR services, including recruitment; new hire orientation and on-boarding; benefits and leave administration; payroll, HR information management and reporting; employee relations and compliance; and performance management. A successful outcome for this position is to partner work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention

Qualifications
- Have an understanding, appreciation, and commitment to the philosophy and mission of Community Access.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related area, preferred.
- HR Related Certification, preferred.
- Minimum three to five years of experience in Human Resources, required.
- Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical ability.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Be creative and flexible.
- Ability to utilize various computer programs, specifically Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Show initiative and be responsible for follow through.
- Ability to maintain confidential information, as related to position.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
