We are seeking a skilled and empathetic Paralegal to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in supporting attorneys and advocates in providing legal services to survivors of domestic violence and other crimes. This position requires strong organizational skills, some legal knowledge, and a sensitivity to the challenges faced by survivors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and file legal documents, including restraining orders, family law pleadings, and other court filings.
  • Conduct client intake with empathy and discretion, gathering essential case information.
  • Organize and maintain case files and confidential records.
  • Assist attorneys in preparing for hearings, trials, and legal consultations.
  • Conduct legal research on family law, domestic violence statutes, and related matters.
  • Communicate professionally with clients, court personnel, and community partners.
  • Monitor case deadlines and manage legal calendars.
Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or Paralegal Certificate from an accredited program or related experience
  • Experience in family law, domestic violence cases, or social justice advocacy (preferred).
  • Knowledge of legal procedures related to domestic violence and family law.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with the utmost confidentiality.
  • Compassionate approach and trauma-informed communication skills.
  • Proficiency in [Microsoft Office Suite, legal research databases, case management software].
  • Bilingual or multilingual skills are a plus.
