CC Assistant/Associate Professor – OTA Program

Location: Claremont Campus

CCSNH has established employer status within the New England states (Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island). In compliance with CCSNH policies and state regulations, eligibility for employment within CCSNH and its institutions requires residency within a New England state.

ASSISTANT PROFESSOR (salary range - $52,093.53 - $61,002.06 annually):

SCOPE OF WORK: To educate students in the Occupational Therapy Assistant Program as outlined in the prescribed program curriculum and to assist in departmental and institutional activities that support the mission of the college. This position is located within the Department of Rehabilitation Services Allied Health and shall report to the Department Chair of Rehabilitation Services Allied Health at River Valley Community College.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Serves as the Academic Fieldwork Coordinator with responsibility for directing all aspects of the clinical experiences for students enrolled in the program, including organizing, administering, reviewing, and revising clinical instruction and outcomes for evolving practice skills, developing clinical locations (with appropriate supervision) and overseeing the general effectiveness of the clinical experience.
  • Teaches OTA and Rehabilitation Therapy courses within a classroom, laboratory, and/or clinic/field experience setting, as assigned.
  • Supervises student learning activities and academic progress and maintains accurate records of student progress and accomplishments.? Maintains accessibility and availability to assist students with their learning needs.
  • Participates in departmental activities and operations by assisting in the review and development of credit and non-credit programs and/or courses, seeking and maintaining contact with business and industry within the specialized field of instruction, assisting in articulation initiatives, maintaining educational equipment and spaces, and requisitioning instructional equipment, supplies or classroom materials.
  • Assists in the planning, development, and implementation of college sponsored recruitment and retention activities including career and job fairs, student orientations, registrations, and award ceremonies, and/or advising student activity groups, as assigned.
  • Engages in professional activities related to the area of teaching specialization by serving on college or system teams, advising pre-OTA students or other students as assigned, and participating in community-sponsored events, as assigned.
  • Assists with accreditation processes including data collection, report writing, and all ongoing efforts to maintain accreditation status with ACOTE.
  • Observes all academic policies and procedures and institutional rules and regulations and demonstrates ethical and professional behavior.
  • Serves on and leads college or system committees, as assigned.
  • Maintains competence in Occupational Therapy through a variety of methods such as participation in continuing education activities and clinical practice.
  • Complies with all college, system, state and federal rules and regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university. Possession of a master's degree in education shall require twelve (12) graduate credits in a subject area closely related to Occupational Therapy and a bachelor's degree in a subject area closely related to Occupational Therapy. Applicants must possess a degree in either Occupational Therapy or Occupational Therapy Assistant.

Experience: Three (3) years of teaching experience in Occupational Therapy, or three (3) years of business or industry experience related to Occupational Therapy. Professional experience as a fieldwork educator or documentation of training and responsibilities of a fieldwork educator.

Licensure/Certifications: Occupational Therapy Assistant certification and license in the state of New Hampshire.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Teaching experience in Occupational Therapy. Experience in collaborative co-teaching environments, online teaching, curriculum development, course equivalency evaluation, and the creation of transfer and articulation agreements. Familiarity with teaching and clinical software including Zoom and Canvas.

RECOMMENDED WORK TRAITS: Knowledge of basic teaching methods and materials, problems and subject matter as related to courses of instruction. Basic knowledge of principles, methods, techniques, materials and equipment of the career field. Demonstrated ability to work with and secure the cooperation of others and demonstrated ability to supervise and direct the work of learners. Ability to maintain comprehensive and accurate records of the progress and development of the individual student. Evidence of consistent satisfactory professional attitudes. Must be willing to maintain appearance appropriate to assigned duties and responsibilities as determined by the agency appointing authority.

Associate Professor (salary range - $56,370.99 - $66,060.36 annually)

SCOPE OF WORK: To educate students and to develop curricula in the Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) program and to assist in departmental and/or institutional activities that support the mission of the college. This position is located within the Department of Rehabilitation Services reporting to the Department Chair of Rehabilitation Services.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Teaches an assigned academic course schedule in a classroom, laboratory, and/or clinic/field experience setting as appropriate for the occupational therapy assistant program. Perform the duties of Academic Fieldwork Coordinator as required by professional accrediting agencies.
  • Develops instructional materials that comply with established course content, integrate theory with applications, observe program and institutional accreditations standards, and respond to diverse academic needs.
  • Supervises student learning activities and academic progress and maintains accurate records of student progress and accomplishments. Consults with and interprets these to students and maintains accessibility and availability to assist students with their learning needs.
  • Observes all academic policies and procedures and institutional rules and regulations and demonstrates ethical and professional behavior.
  • Participates in departmental activities and operations by assisting in the review and development of credit and non-credit programs and/or courses, seeking and maintaining contact with business and industry within the specialized field of occupational therapy, assisting in articulation initiatives, maintaining educational equipment and spaces, and requisitioning instructional equipment, supplies or classroom materials.
  • Participates in college sponsored recruitment and retention activities including career and job fairs, student orientations, registrations, and award ceremonies, and/or advising student activity groups, as assigned.
  • Remains technologically and pedagogically current within the specialized field of occupational therapy through participation in relevant professional associations and education and training activities. Utilizes appropriate instructional and administrative technologies as required for teaching effectiveness and college operations and communications.
  • Serves on and leads college or system committees, as assigned.
  • Complies with all college, system, state and federal rules and regulations, including ACOTE and AOTA standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university. Possession of a master's degree in education shall require twelve (12) graduate credits in a subject area closely related to Occupational Therapy and a bachelor’s degree in a subject area closely related to Occupational Therapy. Experience: Five (5) years of teaching experience in Occupational Therapy, or five (5) years of business or industry experience related to Occupational Therapy. Professional experience as a fieldwork educator or documentation of training and responsibilities of a fieldwork educator.

Special Requirements: Professional experience as a fieldwork educator or documentation of training in the roles and responsibilities of a fieldwork educator.

Licensure/Certifications: Occupational Therapy certification and current Occupational Therapy license in the state of New Hampshire.

Ability to maintain comprehensive records of the progress and development of the individual student. Evidence of good professional attitude. Must be willing to maintain appearance appropriate to assigned duties and responsibilities as determined by the agency appointing authority.
