General Function: The Trading Associate is responsible for leading the securities trading function at Nottingham Advisors. They will manage day to day maintenance trades, as well as model position trading, including allocation.
This role will center around executing both equity and fixed income trades across a platform of separately managed accounts. Trader must continually analyze markets and remain up to date with financial and economic events to the extent they impact trading flows. Trader is expected to remain up to date with the securities owned by Nottingham’s clients and be able to contribute to the Investment Policy Committee.
Essential Duties:
The Trading Associate will work with Nottingham’s Portfolio Managers to implement client trades. The process requires a strong attention to detail, thought, as well as research and analysis to ensure best efforts are made to obtain the best execution for the client.
- Responsible for managing daily trade order flow.
- Conducts pre and post trading analysis.
- Monitors market conditions
- Collaborates with Investment Policy Committee
- Learns and Develops trade execution strategies
- Maintains relationships with counterparties, custodians, brokers, liquidity providers, etc.
- Works with Portfolio Managers to execute, buy, and sell orders.
- Reconciles equity and fixed income trades.
- Will be expected to master the operational elements of trading and Nottingham’s internal trade management and reporting systems.
- Mastery of our portfolio management system
- Will learn use of our research and trading tools, including Bloomberg, Morningstar, and Orion
- Ad hoc projects supporting client servicing, marketing, and investment research
- Creating proposals, samples, and custom reports for prospective clients or marketing materials
- Maintain proficient knowledge of, and demonstrate ongoing compliance with all laws and regulations applicable to this position, ensure ongoing adherence to policies, procedures, and internal controls, and meet all training requirements in a timely manner
Ancillary Duties:
- Provide the Investment Policy Committee with timely and relevant market information, ad hoc projects, general operational support, and performance reporting.
Qualifications:
Education, Training and Requirements:
- 4-year college degree required.
- A masters degree or MBA is optional but preferred.
- CFA charter holder, or candidate in the CFA program, a plus.
- A degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Accounting, Mathematics, or other quantitative field is preferred.
- All applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
Skills:
- Individual should possess strong quantitative skills, and the ability to think quickly and make decisions.
- Proficiency in Excel, Bloomberg, and other investment management related software a plus.
- Strong organizational skills are required, as well as strong communication skills.
Experience:
- 2 years of related financial services experience in operations and trade executions preferred.
- Experience working with Bloomberg, Morningstar Direct, eVestment, Orion, or Schwab as a custodian is a plus.
- Candidate should have an understanding of Financial markets.
