What are the responsibilities and job description for the PHARMACY TECHNICIAN- DORIS ISON position at COMMUNITY HEALTH OF SOUTH FLORIDA INC?
POSITION PURPOSE:
To assist the licensed pharmacist in all clerical or technical areas in the delivery of pharmacy services to the patient not requiring the professional judgment of the pharmacist. This position has a higher level of job knowledge and technical ability than the pharmacy clerk or pharmacy clerk/cashier.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Experience:
High School Diploma or GED required. Must have a minimum of 1-year previous experience in basic pharmacy operations working as a Pharmacy Technician. Must type a minimum of 20 - 30 WPM and demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills: Should have solid mathematical ability and background. Must have good understanding of medical terminology and pharmaceutical practices and procedures. Knowledge of bookkeeping and cashiering protocols is required. Requires a high degree of knowledge in storeroom and inventory procedures as this position has primary responsibility for managing the supplies and availability of all prescription medications at all locations. Must coordinate with other outside agencies and manage transportation of supplies through appropriate, channel experience in filing and detailed record keeping of medication records, prescriptions, and supplies. Assist in the preparation for JCAHCO accreditation.
Licensure / Certification:
Technician Certification required. Maintain current CPR certification from the American Heart Association. OSHA training and AIDS Certification.
Skills / Ability:
Multiple languages are desirable due to diverse patient population. Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently. 10 key adding machine, knowledge of computers and data entry systems.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES (THIS IS A NON-EXEMPT POSITION)
Data entry in Intergy and Pharmacy Order Entry System.
Telephone message retrieval.
Filing and retrieving prescriptions.
Ordering prescription medications for the organization, including prescription vials, labels, and packing materials where needed upon the supervision of the pharmacist.
Managing inventory shortages and product availability problems effectively.
Keeping required records as needed, including daily reports and controlled drug reports.
Typing reports, prescription information, requisition information, and documents.
Oversee and manage all transportation issues, including receiving and shipping supplies to all CHI locations.
Assisting the pharmacist in the preparation of drug information and studies for medical staff or other health care professionals.
Complete all statistical data and submit as required to supervisor and other departments as needed.
Generating monthly reports for all the areas where needed, including ADAP, insulin, board package, and drug utilization and Quality Improvement programs.
Coordinates meetings for in-service training and information through the various manufactures and wholesalers.
Assist pharmacist in preparation for Joint Commission Accreditation.
Participate in staff in-service training.
Participate in Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement Programs and activities.
Maintain current CPR certification and all company updates, i.e. AIDS, Fire Safety, OSHA, etc.
Maintain and oversee indigent drugs received by the department for patients and keep and accurate record of all indigent transactions.
Keep daily monitoring records of refrigerator temperatures.
Monitor and execute all return goods initiatives to maximize product usage and decrease waste and overhead.
Reports to work on time and ready to work with minimal absenteeism.
Adheres to Confidentiality Policies and Procedures / HIPAA Regulations.
Performs other duties as assigned.
