About the Role

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is the financial architect of our mission, ensuring that every dollar is optimized to support and drive meaningful change. This is not just an accounting role - it’s a strategic leadership position at the intersection of finance, operations, and innovation.

As a key member of the executive team, the CFO works in partnership with the CEO and Board to steer the organization toward long-term financial sustainability. From big-picture financial strategy to hands-on operational oversight, the CFO ensures that our resources fuel our mission—while safeguarding our reputation, mitigating risks, and preparing for the future.

This role is ideal for a visionary financial leader who thrives in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment and understands the unique challenges of a nonprofit that depends on grants, compliance, and creative problem-solving to sustain and grow its impact.

The perfect candidate is a collaborative, big-picture thinker with deep expertise and experience in nonprofit accounting, financial management, grant compliance, and risk mitigation. They bring a track record of optimizing resources, driving sustainability, and leading high-performing teams. With a keen eye for both financial details and long-term strategy, they can navigate the complexities of funding streams, investments, and operational efficiencies while ensuring that facilities and IT effectively support CME’s mission.

Above all, this person is a trusted advisor, an innovative leader, and a proactive communicator—someone who can translate financial insights into actionable strategies that propel the organization forward.
