Organization Overview
Community Partnership Inc. (CP) is the Community Action Agency for Butler County, PA. We currently run programming in Butler County and are working to expand our reach to Lawrence and Beaver County. Our three focus areas are Economic Development, Food Insecurity, and Agriculture related issues that people in poverty face in their daily lives.
One of CP’s food access programs is “The Produce Cart”, a mobile farmer’s market/grocery store that visits low-food access communities in Butler, Beaver, and Lawrence counties. In 2024, the Produce Cart visited sites in Saxonburg, Butler, Petrolia, Aliquippa, Baden, Beaver Falls, and New Castle. During the 2024 market season, the Produce Cart operated for three seasons, however the goal is for it to become a year-round market.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Mobile Market Manager – Full-time position
Community Partnership Inc. is accepting applications for a Mobile Market Coordinator to lead Community Partnership’s “The Produce Cart.”
The Produce Cart is a farmstand on wheels that brings fresh produce from Southwestern PA farms directly to neighborhoods in Aliquippa, Butler, & New Castle and other communities, along with cooking demonstrations and tastings of local, fresh fruits, vegetables, and meats. The Produce Cart visits areas throughout Southwestern PA, that face food insecurity and do not have access to farmers markets or fresh fruits and vegetables at local stores, including housing authority and senior living sites, during the summer months. Community Partnership provides the Mobile Market with vegetables from its production gardens along with sourcing local products from local farmers in the area.
The mobile market coordinator will be responsible for the following:
· Working with partners to identify and schedule sales locations, farmers markets, and community events;
· Driving the Mobile Market bus to the scheduled sites, setting up tables, displaying produce and interacting with customers to promote healthily eating, explain SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program), WIC and FMNP benefits, and selling produce;
· Providing SNAP referrals;
· Outreach to and ordering from our partner farms and other regional suppliers, data collection, and market promotion;
· Providing oversight and training for any summer help/volunteers in market activities, including Americorps members;
· Following set program budgets and monitoring sales and profit margins;
· Monitoring vehicle maintenance and inspection needs;
· Working closely with our on-staff chef/nutrition education specialist and our agricultural programs coordinator. This position also provides support to our monthly food distributions and other food programs, and other programs as assigned.
Qualifications
Qualified applicants must have:
· Excellent Interpersonal Skills;
· Proficient in Excel or Google Sheets;
· A valid Driver’s License;
· Ability to lift to 50 lbs. for set-up and teardown at market sites;
· Ability to pass criminal record checks/background screenings, drug tests, and PA DOT physical (CDL not required);
· History/comfort level with driving larger vehicles;
· Ability and comfort with being outside in all weather conditions.
Other helpful but not necessary skills include:
· Retail Sales Experience, particularly with using point of sales systems;
· Knowledge of seasonal produce, meats, and local dairy products;
· Experience serving families and with community outreach;
· Knowledge/History using the inventory site Sortly;
· Passion for local agriculture and food systems;
· A bachelor’s degree in agriculture, sustainability, or food systems is preferred but not necessary as significant work experience will also be considered;
· Familiarity with operation of other farming and gardening equipment.
Details: This is a full-time position, working 40 hours a week. The position is based in Butler, Pennsylvania with regular travel to surrounding communities and counties. The work schedule is flexible and will be built around the Produce Cart’s market schedule. The starting salary is $38,000-40,000 yearly based on experience.
