Description : CPC is seeking candidates for our Instructional Support Specialist position.

SUMMARY : Specializes in supporting social, emotional, motor, and cognitive development of children with suspected needs or diagnosis. Collaborates with families and education professionals to ensure success in the least restrictive environment. Provides educational support to children and shares guidance and suggestions for teachers and families.

Requirements :

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Be committed to the vision and mission of Community Progress Council (CPC).
  • Provides educational support to children enrolled in CPC’s Early Childhood Education (ECE) program throughout York County.
  • Shares guidance to support teachers and families in meeting the needs of children in classrooms and in- home environments.
  • Obtains the materials and equipment needed to implement educational and developmental programs for children.
  • Screens developmental levels of children enrolled in ECE programming.
  • Supports families through the Special Education and Behavioral Health referral process.
  • Maintains records of educational and developmental progress. Responsible for documenting services for all children identified as receiving instructional support and / or specialized instruction.
  • Participates in multidisciplinary team meetings to best meet the needs of enrolled children and their families.
  • Provides ongoing Peer Coaching to teachers and support individualized instruction for children based on their strengths and needs.
  • Arranges activities to support growth in all developmental domains.
  • Works directly with children in learning activities.
  • Acts in response to the child’s needs in any environment.
  • Responds to each parent / caregiver in relation to their own strengths and needs.
  • All other duties as assigned.

  • EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE : Bachelor's degree in special education, Early Childhood Education or related field with; a minimum one to two years related experience and / or training with young children; or associate degree in same field with three or more years of related experience.

    OTHER REQUIREMENTS : Reliable transportation for regular and timely attendance as an essential job requirement. Ability to be reached by telephone in a timely manner. May be required to commence workday at different agency sites without compensation for travel time or mileage to the site and the return. Ability to respond to change in a productive manner and handle other tasks as assigned. Ability to work with diverse individuals.

    LANGUAGE SKILLS : Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and / or boards of directors.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS : Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

    REASONING ABILITY : Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

    COMPUTER : Experience with Microsoft Office Suite in a Windows environment required.

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS : Department of Human Services FBI Clearance, PA State Criminal History, Childline Child Abuse Certification, and submission to the National Sex Offender Registry (NSOR) required prior to hire. A physical assessment including a tuberculosis skin test and the Child Abuse “Mandated Reporter” training due within 90-days of hire. Must have a valid driver's license, valid insurance with acceptable driving history.
