What are the responsibilities and job description for the Counselor position at Compass Health Network?

Provides direct patient care to preadolescents, adolescents, and adult patients in an acute psychiatric setting including individual and group counseling. Directs all addiction services including delivery of substance abuse counseling and chemical dependency evaluations. The Counselor also ensures that substance abuse services are complaint with regulatory organizations (i.e., Department of Mental Health, TJC, Center for Medicaid & Medicare Services).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS – JOB SPECIFIC
Provide therapeutic services and education about substance use and addiction
Provide initial evaluation and assessment interview within 72 hours of patient admission
Develop appropriate treatment plan goals to provide service during hospitalization and aftercare recommendations
Conduct individual, group, family / couples therapy and chemical dependency consultations with recommendations
Maintain appropriate documentation within time frames stated in policies
Work with interdisciplinary treatment team members
Abide by HIPAA laws
Remain current on organizational standards such as, but not limited to, CALM, CPR and Essential learning
Abide by all professional and corporate ethical standards
