Key Responsibilities
- Deliver nursing care, including health assessments, pain assessments, and vital sign monitoring for individuals presenting at the Crisis Stabilization Center.
- Perform medication administration tasks, including medication passes and injections, ensuring proper observation of self-administration.
- Oversee medication management tasks, including the completion and updating of the Medication Administration Record (MAR) and the counting of controlled substances.
- Educate patients on physical health and medications, facilitating better understanding and compliance.
- Coordinate care with interdisciplinary team members, involving staff, patients, families, physicians, psychiatrists, hospitals, and pharmacies.
- Document and report observable changes in patients' behaviors, attitudes, and physical conditions.
- Assist with various diagnostic and treatment procedures, ensuring high standards of care.
- Mentor new employees through education on procedures and protocols.
- Participate actively in team and leadership meetings to enhance care delivery.
- Provide direct care to adults, ensuring empathy and professionalism in all interactions.
- Manage challenging situations involving patients who may be verbally or physically agitated.
- Be prepared to participate in mandatory overtime as necessary.
- Exceptional verbal, written, and nonverbal communication abilities.
- Strong organizational skills and cognitive capabilities.
- Capacity to manage multiple stressors and meet deadlines effectively.
- Proven experience in psychiatric care.
- Ability to maintain composure when handling verbally or physically agitated patients.
- An Associate's degree in nursing is required; a Bachelor's degree in nursing is preferred.
- A minimum of one year of psychiatric experience is required, with preference given to candidates with experience in hospital or acute care settings.
- Must hold a valid LPN, RN, GPN/GN license and successfully pass the MO NCLEX exam within 90 days of graduation.
