Key Responsibilities
- Deliver nursing care, including health and pain assessments, vital signs monitoring, and daily care for individuals at the Crisis Stabilization Center.
- Administer medications, including medication passes, injections, and oversee self-administration of medication.
- Manage medication records, including completing and updating the Medication Administration Record (MAR) and counting controlled substances.
- Provide patient education on health and medications.
- Coordinate care with various stakeholders, including staff, residents, families, physicians, mental health professionals, hospitals, and pharmacies.
- Document and report observable changes in patients’ behavior, attitudes, and physical conditions.
- Assist in various diagnostic and treatment procedures as needed.
- Educate new employees on procedures and protocols.
- Actively participate in team and leadership meetings as required.
- Handle mandatory overtime as needed.
- Proficient verbal, written, and nonverbal communication skills.
- Strong cognitive, organizational, and emotional abilities to navigate multiple stressors and deadlines.
- Competency in providing patient education related to physical health and medications.
- Ability to effectively engage with patients who may exhibit verbal or physical agitation.
- High School diploma or GED is required.
- A Practical Nursing Certificate or an Associate’s/Bachelor’s degree in Nursing is essential.
- A minimum of one year of psychiatric experience is required; hospital or acute care setting experience is preferred.
- Licensure/Certification: Must possess LPN, RN, or GPN/GN licensure and pass the MO NCLEX exam within 90 days of graduation.
