Key Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care, including health assessments, pain evaluations, and vital sign monitoring.
- Administer medications accurately, including medication passes, injections, and overseeing self-administration processes.
- Maintain and update Medication Administration Records (MAR) and manage controlled substances effectively.
- Provide education to patients regarding their physical health and medications.
- Collaborate with various stakeholders, including staff, families, physicians, and pharmacies, to ensure coordinated care.
- Document and report observable changes in patients' behavior and physical condition.
- Assist in diagnostic and treatment procedures alongside staff members.
- Engage in team and leadership meetings as required.
- Provide direct care to adult patients, managing challenging situations with professionalism.
- Participate in mandatory overtime as necessary.
- Strong nursing assessment and patient care competencies.
- Excellent verbal, written, and nonverbal communication abilities.
- Robust organizational skills to manage multiple priorities and high-stress situations.
- Proficient in patient and family education regarding health and medication management.
- Experienced in medication management and controlled substance protocols.
- Capability to work effectively with potentially agitated patients.
- A minimum of one year of psychiatric nursing experience is required; experience in a hospital or acute care setting is preferred.
- Valid LPN or RN designation in Missouri is essential.
