Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care, including health assessments, pain assessments, and monitoring vital signs.
- Administer medications, including injections, and supervise self-administration.
- Maintain accurate medication records, including the Medication Administration Record (MAR) and managing controlled substances.
- Educate patients about their physical health and medications.
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to coordinate care among staff, patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Document and report observable changes in patients’ behavior and physical condition.
- Assist in various diagnostic and treatment procedures.
- Mentor new employees on procedures and protocols.
- Participate in team and leadership meetings as necessary.
- Handle potential mandatory overtime as needed.
- Strong verbal, written, and non-verbal communication abilities.
- Emotional resilience and organizational skills to effectively manage multiple stressors and complex situations.
- Ability to provide direct patient care to adults, including those who may exhibit verbal or physical agitation.
- Associate’s degree in nursing is required; a Bachelor’s degree in nursing is preferred.
- A minimum of one year of psychiatric nursing experience is necessary; prior experience in a hospital or acute care setting is advantageous.
- Valid LPN or RN license in Missouri is required.
