Key Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for examinations and treatments, including taking patient histories and vital signs, and documenting findings in patient charts.
- Set up examination and treatment rooms with necessary instruments and supplies.
- Perform venipunctures, urinalysis, EKGs, and other procedures as directed.
- Administer immunizations and various injections.
- Facilitate prescription requests and ensure proper documentation.
- Provide education and instructions to patients.
- Maintain and sterilize supplies and equipment.
- Assist healthcare professionals with minor surgeries and physical examinations.
- Coordinate the scheduling of tests and treatments.
- Screen calls and relay messages appropriately.
- Maintain up-to-date patient files and records.
- Adhere to safety protocols, including proper waste disposal and hand hygiene.
- Follow CLIA and OSHA regulations.
- Support the upkeep of cleanliness in unit facilities.
- Monitor and manage medical stock supplies.
- Attend mandatory training sessions.
- Fulfill additional responsibilities as necessary to meet clinic needs.
- Proficiency in medical office terminology, procedures, and equipment.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite is preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- High School diploma or GED is required.
- Practical Nursing certificate is mandatory for Nurse LPN applicants.
- A minimum of two (2) years of relevant work experience is essential if medical assistant certification is not obtained.
- Preferred experience of at least two (2) years in a medical office setting.
- Medical Assistant Certification or LPN/GPN with the requirement to pass the MO NCLEX exam within 90 days of graduation.
