Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities of the Accounting Specialist are tracking and managing financial data, as well as documenting and monitoring financial transaction details. Other key areas include assisting Accounts Payable department with monthly disbursements, as well as performing account reconciliations for key financial accounts.
Maintain financial transaction records by establishing accounts, posting transactions, and ensuring legal compliance
Utilize the appropriate accounting software to manage and automate financial tasks when relevant
Assist with creating budgets, financial forecasts, and quarterly reports
Collect, analyze, and summarize data for tax forms according to local and federal mandates
Assist with annual tax and compliance audits
Understanding ledgers
Working and partnering with accountants when needed
Fact-checking accounting data
Reconciling company accounts
Assist with the monthly preparation of financial metrics and reports
File and organize all documentation, paper and electronic
Assist with internal and external audits
Perform other duties as assigned
Assist with special projects as requested
Requirements
Associate’s degree in accounting or business administration pref. Excellent knowledge of general accounting principles
At least 5 years of accounting experience, preferably within a corporate office environment
Experience with accounting software such as Sage or JD Edwards
Capable of identifying and resolving discrepancies
Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
Detailed oriented with strong organizational, time management and prioritization skills
Ability to troubleshoot issues, identify discrepancies and recommend solutions
Attention to detail and accuracy of work
The ability to meet deadlines
The ability to communicate complex data in a clear way
Exceptional organizational skills
The ability to prioritize projects
Excellent data entry skills
