What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounting Specialist position at Comprehensive Youth Services?
This position handles various accounting functions for many programs within Comprehensive Youth Services. Some key functions are as follows:
Position Description: The Accounting specialist works closely with 2 others in the finance department which oversees daily, monthly and yearly financial operations. Tasks are as follows but not limited too:
- Preparing financial statements and reporting of any discrepancies
- Reconcile accounts and credit card accounts
- Generating reports
- Manage accounts receivable and payable, pay and file invoices and track the status of accounts
- Prepare month-end reports and all reporting that may be necessary
- Input ledger entries, process financial transactions
- Accounts payable, draft and send invoices, print checks and ACH payments in a timely manner
- Data Management
- Assist with Administrative tasks such as answering phones, organizing mail or ordering office supplies
- Budgets for grants
- Prepares and completes daily bank deposits
- Prepare for audits as they occur
- Prepare financials for the Board of Directors meetings and attend those meetings
- Work with Program Directors on preparing budgets for grants
Qualifications:
- Bachelors preferred
- 2-4 years experience in an accounting role
- Non profit experience a plus
- MIP classic or MIP Cloud knowledge
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and oral
- Computer proficiency
- Flexibility and the capacity to prioritize tasks in a rapidly changing environment
- Ability to multitask effectively in a fast paced, demanding environment
- Ability to work evenings and/or weekends if needed
- Federal and State grant knowledge
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
