Position Summary:
The person in this position serves as the primary advocate and administrator for the Master of Business Administration (MBA) program. The Director works closely with the Dean of the College of Business and Technology to schedule courses; hire, mentor and evaluate instructors for the program; and conduct ongoing academic assessment. In addition, the Director works with the Enrollment, Marketing, and Student Services staff for Concordia and the Online Program Manager to recruit and service students for the program. Concordia expects program directors to fully espouse and model a Christ-centered education delivered in an academically rigorous, highly relational environment.
General Duties:
- Carry responsibility for designing, implementing, assessing and supervising rigorous curriculum in the MBA program that address the standards of CUNE, the LCMS, learned societies and state, regional and national accrediting agencies.
- Partner with the Marketing and Student Enrollment Services on campus to develop and implement processes for recruiting and retaining students for the Master of Business Administration program.
- Assist in screening students who apply to the Master of Business Administration program.
- Collaborate with Student Services and Student Service Representatives to ensure the highest levels of student engagement, learning and satisfaction in the Master of Business Administration program.
- Hire, supervise, mentor and evaluate faculty who teach in the MBA programs.
- Engage the CUNE Director of Classroom Innovation and Online Education, and the Dean of the College of Business and Technology with orienting and mentoring new faculty for the MBA program.
- Cultivate and maintain partnerships with local, regional and national institutions and work agencies.
- Work with the Dean of the College of Business and Technology and the Business Department to complete the necessary procedures for program assessment and potential accreditation with the MBA program.
- Grow professionally through ongoing personal reading, research and/or attendance at national, local, synodical and learned society meetings.
- Assist with the creation of the program's annual budget and manage, coordinate, and approve expenditure of program operational funds.
- Plan and administer MBA 660 by partnering with a local business, gathering needed information, coordinating with an instructor and serving as a liaison between the business instructor and students in the course.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Master's of Business Administration degree or relative master's degree in a discipline relevant to the program's curriculum from a regionally-accredited institution required; terminal degree preferred.
Experience:
- Proven interest and demonstrated ability in curriculum development, program assessment and improvement, and academic administration.
- Proven interest and demonstrated ability in accelerated, online adult education.
- At least five years of professional experience in the industry or discipline.
- At least three years of prior teaching in higher education, preferred.
Proficiencies:
- Ability to work accurately and effectively with all technical and computer programs and learning management systems (Blackboard experience preferred).
- Proficient in online curriculum development and delivery
- Ability to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds and promote a positive working and learning environment.
- Excellent presentation, written, and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and to collaborate with university personnel.
- Strong leadership skills, interpersonal proficiency, and the ability to mentor professionals effectively.
